Irregular Period- Could I Have Been Pregnant Last Month?

On October 12th I started my cycle on time but it was off and on for 5 days (litterally stopping for 8-10 hours at a time). I took 2 pregnancy test during my "period" and they were both negative. Then on November 12th I had a positive pregnancy test. I have an appointment set up, but I am wondering if maybe I was already pregnant last month or if it was just a crazy period?!?! What do you think ladies? 4 weeks pregnant or closer to 8 weeks??
I think people are confused about what I am asking. I know for sure I am pregnant. I am a week late and had a positive test. I am just wondering if it is possible that I am farther along than 4 weeks.....like maybe was I pregnant when I had my "period" last month.

What can I do next?

It is possible you were pregnant in October. That happened to me...in June 2007 we were trying to get pregnant and I had my "period" on time July 2, I even took tests during my period (I just knew I was pregnant). I took a test again on July 19 and was pregnant. I actually got pregnant on June 23. After going to the doctor and having a sonogram the doctor told me the "period" I experienced in July was implantation bleeding and the negative tests were a result of low hormone levels at the time of the test (I hadn't been pregnant long enough for the test to detect it).

I think it is best to see your dr. very soon. More than likely nothing is wrong but it is best to check out all of your levels. Congratulations!!

Hi S.

It sounds like Sarah has the possible correct answer - implantation bleeding - not a period - and that a sonogram will tell you for sure. Congratulations either way! ;-)

You can get false negatives, but you rarely, if ever, see false positives. Congrats!

Five days sounds like a long time for implantation bleeding for me. I had it with my son, and it was just light spotting for maybe 2 days. I would definitely mention all this to your OB though, so you can be sure to get an ultrasound to date the pregnancy.

Sounds like you are pregnant, the over the counter tests are pretty accurate if done correctly. Congrats.
