Introducing Baby Yogurt

I have just begun to introduce yogurt to my 9-month-old. She usually eats very well, and has never refused any new food! But, she clearly does not like the yogurt. I tried mixing it with some fruit, but after 2-3 bites, she catches on and refuses to eat, but will eagerly eat a spoonful without yogurt (how does she know?!). I am giving her Yobaby plain yogurt. Has anyone had better luck with the flavored varieties? Any suggestions? I really want her to like yogurt, as it would be a healthier lunch at daycare than just fruit.

What can I do next?

My daughter loves the Yobaby blueberry and apple, but refuses all the others including the ones mixed with cereal. Give it a try, good luck!

Hi there,
It could be the consistency. Try mixing it all up w/some baby cereal. Good luck!

Try mixing in tiny amounts into the fruit first. After three times, add a little more........and so on. My daughter was an extremely picky eater from the beginning. She knew squash and refused to eat it. I literally had to sneak it in the tiniest amounts. For weeks she could be obsessed about a certain type of food then stop eating it all together. She is only two. Keep trying with the yogurt, though. I swear that is the only reason my daughter (the picky one) didn't have every single cold my son and I had this past winter. She eats yogurt non-stop.

I agree with the other moms that you should definitely try other flavors before you throw in the towel. Yogurt is a great snack and my daughter also lives on it. But, if after trying and trying you find she doesn't like it, well then, maybe she really doesn't like it. Give it a break and try again in a few weeks. If you want her to have the protein from dairy, you could try cottage cheese mixed with fruit. I always thought cottage cheese was a very adult, acquired taste but the other day I saw a toddler enjoying it, so maybe you could give that a try.

Why don't you try the Stonyfield Farm French Vanilla. It's just sweet enough that she might love it.

Good luck!
