Inexpensive Love and Logic Classes
A good friend of mine is dealing with some custody issues, and problems with her son. She has been told to take a Love and Logic course. Her budget is very tight and she's only been able to find one through kaiser that is way out of her price range. She doesn't currently have internet access, so I told her I'd try to do some research for her. Does anyone know of any places that offer this program, possibley with assistance for those in a lower income bracket?

You can often find the books and cassettes in the library. I know this is not as good as going to the class, but it might be a start. Or you could look and see if you can buy the materials online (amazon) for cheap.

My son's elementary school gives them for free if you are a memeber of the PTA. It's $5.00 to join the PTA and $9.00 for the book. Have her check with the local school district. That who does it at our school.

Did she check the Library. I think there are books available to buy, so many she can check them out from a library.
Also if I were to find my copies on my computer, I could send them to you, you could print them for her. Would that be a possibility? I have to look through my files I don't know if I have them still.
Also what about community classes. Here in SLC, there offer the Love and Logic class for $40 through community classes.
Good Luck! Bonne Chance!

Hi L.:
Here is Fort Collins they offer the class at the Early Childhood education center. Have her check with the School district for Early childhood schools and see if they offer it. Since most families are low income they are very cheap if not free. Good Luck.

My neighbor is actually offering a Love and Logic class right now for just the cost of purchasing the booklets (I think $15). We live in northern Lehi. If she is interested in attending have her contact me, and I will try to get her in touch w/ the instructor. ____@____.com

Hi not sure where you're located but there is a Successful Mothering Convention coming up on January 24th at the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy that looks like they will have a lot of good classes. I'm looking at going because my husband and I are currently separated and trying to figure out what to do. Anyway here's the website for more info http://www.successfulmothering.com/index.php Good luck!

I believe it is through Douglas County Schools that they offer the classes. I remember them being affordable, but I also remember the instructor saying that he does the classes for various court ordered people as well. Check that out, plus go to the Love and Logic website and contact them to find out what other channels are available.
Local libraries also carry the DVDs and books. Great classes.

Hi L.,
Not sure where you live, but here in Boise, our local school district offered the Parenting with Love and Logic classes, and fees were really reasonable. They also had reduced fees (and free for those who qualified) for lower income families. I would highly suggest checking with your school district to see if they offer any parenting courses as well. It was well worth the time!
Best of luck!

She should call the elementary school in her area and see if they will be holding a course. We took it through our kids grade school and it was only $10. My sister in-law is taking it through the internet. Maybe your friend could go to your home or a family member's home each class to watch it there.

Check your local churches or preschools. I know my former church offered Love and Logic classes at no charge. Preschools also offer parenting/discipline classes. I have taken Love and Logic, as I am an educator, and they are COMPLETELY worth it... even if you have to pay!!

There are public classes typically held at highschools for Love and Logic. The community centers often offer them. If not in Lehi I know they often do in areas like Sandy, UT. I am not sure if it is listed as parent resources or continuing education, but you can call and I am sure they can give you info about it.

She could get a book on it at the library. That's what I used. And there could be a DVD with the speaker teaching the class. It's how I got to use it.

Here in Davis County Utah I've seen the classes offered through the school district and continuing education. I am guessing you are not in Utah but it wouldn't hurt to check with your local school district. I may also check with your county home and family services they may offer classes.
Good Luck.

Hi L. - there is a book with the information as well as DVDs. She could check with her local library and perhaps put a hold on it. Also she could check with local churches. Larger churches like Cherry Hills Community Church have these classes running often and she could ask for a scholarship. Often large churches have these materials in their library.
The public library will probably have these on audiobooks as well.

Hi L.,
I just heard a woman on the Tom Martino Show offer a "screaming deal" on a Love and Logic Class. She offered a 2 parents for 1 special $75. Check the troubleshooter website for more info. Sorry, I didn't get the woman's phone numer. Maybe she would do a half price deal for a single parent.
www.troubleshooter.com
Or you could call the show and ask.
Hope this helps, sorry for the lack of info.

Have you tried Boulder's Parenting Place? (it maybe bright beginnings.org?) I'm sure they'll at least be able to point in the right direction. They do a whole "unlocking the power of parenting" thing that is pretty good.
Good luck!
