Holy cow.. I could have written this. I have a 17 year old daughter from my 1st marriage and 2 year old boy from 2nd ....I delivered at 37 weeks.I only had high blood pressure 1 time and they admitted me, induced and at 9 cm had emergency c section!Ugh! I too want 1 more ...I loved being pregnant, my husband is more concerned about delivery! I have a salon, do nails and work part time now...not sure how I would handle 2 AND WORK...... I Love my job!!!The only big difference is...I am 42!!!!
What does your Dr say? I think they try to make us seem such high risk or as they called me AMA-advanced maternal age!I guess I would write down the pros and cons...worse case scenerio is...if you are healthy.... to set a date for inducing!I don't now all of your health history but would encourage you to research what the dr says....good luck...email me if you'd like ____@____.com

Hi S.,

I am a doula who just recently assisted a mother who had sever pre-eclampsia. I do know that they have found that a strict vegetarian diet has reduced the number of mothers with pre-eclampsia and mothers who have had it before have an 80% chance of another pregnancy without the complications. Now that said, you might be one of the 20% as you already have high blood pressure and it is usually more common with 1st pregnancies. I would definitely talk with your care provider BEFORE getting pregnant.

Best of luck!

38 weeks is actually considered full term. I had a bit of high blood pressure towards the end of my pregnancies (all three). I wouldn't worry too much about it if you really want to have another child. You would just need to be monitored closely. Ask you doctor if there is anything you can do to prepare for another pregnancy. To tell you the truth, I was induced at 38 weeks with my last child and I was so HAPPY! I just didn't want to be pregnant anymore!!!! I think they ere on the side of caution always.
Good luck to you.

Hi S.-
Have you always had high blood pressure or was it just during your pregnancy? Do you take any medications to control it? What is your normal resting blood pressure? What has your doctor said? I would think your doctor would suggesting getting your blood pressure to where it should be before conceiving because as you learned, you will have to deliver early. My opinion is that you absolutely can and will have another kid but need to take care of your health first. I'd be curious to see what your blood pressure is now and if you took a health beverage for a few months without changing anything, what your pressure would be then. I love and swear by Monavie and googled "Monavie and high blood pressure", there may be some helpful testimonials out there. Just a thought, you want to be healthy and happy before, during, and after your pregnancy! Good luck, feel free to email me.

Check out http://www.blueribbonbaby.org/. Dr Brewer swears that high blood pressure can be stopped by adding more protein to your diet. I also have friends that tried his diet, and didn't end up on bed rest when they were told they would have to. The other best thing for high blood pressure is exercise. Walking 15 min a day can do wonders for BP. There is hope for one more baby!!

First you need to visit the website www.blueribbonbaby.org it has what doctors do not know or do not tell you about preventing eclapsia. When I was a childbirth educator, not one of my clients even those who had had eclampsia before had this complication at all when following the recommendations on the website. Doctors do not tell you about this as the recommendations are not things they can make $ on.

Also find a midwife who delivers at home, They know more about how to keep you healthy instead of how to fix problems when they are started. As a result they work hard to keep you healthy. You can have them do your prenatal care even if you want to have an out of home birth.

Do what you can now to detox your system and improve your health. I suggest you see a naturpathic Doctor and a person who does body work ( viseral and or cranialsacral work ) as well, they can do much to improve the way your body works which will make conceiving easier and pregnancy healthier.

Many good wishes to you!--
