Ideas for My Twins First Birthday Party!

My son is also turning one in aug and I am trying to find some ideas. I am thinking of taking him to a pottery place and making him a "birthday plate." I was going to put his little handprint on it and decorate it for him so he can use it every year for his cake. I know it's more fun for me right now than for him but your 3 yr old would enjoy it. (my3yr old nephew had a blast at one of those places) Me and my siblings still have our plates we made when we were kids and we treasure them.

Hi there, I read somewhere that a mom blew up some of the first year pics(one for every month) to a large poster size maybe and decorated her house/ walkway with them for all the guests to see how much the children had grown. She said it was her favorite part of the whole birthday party experience. Any of the plate, handprint, garden stone things would be a nice keepsake for you. Maybe collecting a time capsule piece from the year from all of your guests with a note why they picked that item. You could have a few presents for your 3 year old to open to keep him out of the way for the memorable picture shots of the little ones, like I'm the big brother shirt, or a cheap disposable camera, so his "job" could be to help get pics of everyone at the party, or a new bubble toy, bubbles look cute in pics when they show up. Hi D.. I'm not sure I have any great advice for you about party ideas, but I wanted to say hello to you as a fellow mom of twins. I have 2.5 year old identical twin boys. So far, we have kept their parties pretty low key but we did decorate the house with balloons and streamers for their 2nd birthday when I knew they would "understand" a little more that it was their birthday. What if you had your older son help you pick out decorations and help decorate. He will feel so great when he sees how great the decorations look and will feel more of a part of the day of celebration. I agree with the other mommas, the pottery keepsake is an awesome idea that lasts forever. To include your three year old there are a few things we did, like had the older brother pass out the favor bags to the other children, helped blow out the candles, help with the opening of the gifts, and pretty much anything that he would enjoy "helping" with.
