We just moved to Santa Rosa and are looking for fun ideas to celebrate my daughter's 4th birthday this weekend. We considered Safari West but the price feels a bit high since we've just moved. Do you have suggestions for other things to do in Sonoma County that will feel special since we won't be doing an actual party for her?

Thanks so much for your ideas!

What can I do next?

My mom lives in Santa Rosa...

We spend lots of time at Bodega Bay or other beaches on the Sonoma Coast. Or there is the Russian River...You could also go to Armstrong Woods and hike (a short hike) and have a picnic. Also, there are many farms up there that welcome visitors to come and pet/feed animals or pick fruit like apples or berries (search the web for this). Have fun!!!

Do you have Chuck E Cheese out there.....it's a place my kids take the grandkids.........off and on..........

Also, why not ask her what she would like.......get on Google and type in Fun kids in Santa Rosa, CA........see what you come up with...

Good Luck and take care.

I know they have the water slides up that way. Most kids love that!

I do not live near Santa Rosa, but my daughter LOVED tea parties- actually she still does. Anyway, if there is something very special she loves to do you could do that on a grander scale. If she loves tea parties you could get her a dress up outfit and a special tea party set and take her to have a tea party at a park with a friend. Anything like that.

Train Town in Sonoma is an option.

Mrs. Grossman's sticker factory in Petaluma is a fun place to visit. You might want to do that as a weekday trip however, as they have a nice tour Monday through Thursday. Look them up online for the details. The tour is $3 and you get a discount coupon for $3 off of a $20 purchase at their factory store. Plus after the tour they give you a bag of stickers and let the child (and the parents) do a little project in a room near the store. We've made their tour a field trip for a group from Sacramento and plan to make it an annual event.

There's a candy shop called Powell's in Windsor (just north of you). I don't know if you are looking for something for your family or to do with kids, but Powell's is so fun! You can get ice cream and eat it on the town green. It's been a long time since I was there, but there was a book store and a stuffed animal shop, too.
