I Am Looking for Reasonable Child Care.

I have a 5 year old son that I am in need of childcare for. I am hoping that some of you stay at home mommas might be able to help. He is currently in a Daycare Center and Hates it! He cries everyday I take him (he goes three days a week). So I was wondering if there are mommas in the Mount Prospect Area that would be willing to make a little extra cash and watch my little darling. He is very social, plays and gets along well with other kids. He loves all kinds of sports! He does have asthma and food allergies. I am hopeful that this could turn in to a long term arrangement, as he starts kindergarten in the fall and we may need care on those days as well. Please email me directly if you are interested. I need to set this up pretty quickly!

Thanks Mommas! You are all GREAT!

Hi C., I live in Des Plaines, near Wolf & Thacker. For 3 days a week would you consider a 15 year old (16 on Aug 1st) coming to your house to watch him for the summer? I work in Northbrook so depending where in Mt Prospect you are I could maybe drop her off in the morning & you could get her home? Then that could give you time to secure something. We could set-up a meet n greet for both of us to see if we are a match? I'll private message you my contact info. if that is something of interest to you.

Hi C.,

I saw your message that you were looking for child care. If you have a little extra room in your home you may want to consider an Au Pair. You won't have to take your little one to a daycare, so you won't have to worry about him crying.

Au Pairs are actually more affordable than daycare in many area. The average cost of an Au Pair s $7.58 /hr. Feel free to check our Au Pair agency out at http://www.G..com. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

My kids go to Mt. Propsect Childcare Center on NW Hwy, we've been there since October. We've gone to another center in the area, my oldest cried nearly every day at the end. There were some things there I did not like, but I think the biggest difference is staff turnover. Most places have a revolving door, here many have been here for over a decade. I really like MPCCC. My younger child literally RUNS in every day, that's how much she likes it. In the summer they go to the pool and take field trips for the big kids so we are looking forward to that! They are very flexible with part time/full time and adjustments along the way. As you can tell I've been nothing but satisfied. Good luck!

Hi C.,

It sounds like the day care center environment is a little overwhelming for him. It may be too large of a group size for him right now. Also the child to staff ratio may be kind of high. DCFS licensing standards allow for 20 to 1 child to staff ration for five years old and up. Most centers will exceed those standards, but it can be a large group size and a busy day. Also there can be high staff turnover in some centers. Maybe he would do better in a licensed family child care home. Much smaller group size, lots of one on one attention. Consistent caregivers. Many, many have good, structured programming. And they will be able to do b/a care for kindergarten too. A good place to start is by contacting you local child care resource and referral agency. In Cook County, you can contact Illinois Action For Children at ###-###-#### or website is www.actforchildren.org. They can provide you with a comprehensive list of programs in your area as well as info on screening for quality, licensing standards etc. You can also go to www.nafcc.org or www.naeyc.org and look for accredited homes or centers in you area. Also www.childcareaware.org is a great website.
