How to Keep a 'Moving Baby' Sleeping

Hi there. I have a 6 month old daughter that up until a few weeks ago had successfully been sleeping through the night from approx. 4 1/2 months. However, she has gotten into the habit of waking during the night (anywhere between 2-3am) not because she is hungry or dirty diaper but because she is moving all about in her cot!! She has learned to flip onto her stomach but has not adjusted 100% to sleeping there. So a typical night goes like this: talking begins with crying soon after. Go into her room and there she is on her stomach unable to get comfortable. After about 1-2 hours of back and forth into her room she finally settles on her side back to sleep.
I have tried to put her in a baby-bag but she hates it! She will kick and not let me zipper it up. I also try to limit her naps during the day to 3 hours.
Feel like we are going backwards on the sleep front. Any advice is welcome.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for all of your advice. After placing Tessa on her side I found the courage to place her on her stomach when I put her to bed. Admittingly I am still a bit freaked-out she is going to suffocate but she is fine. She is happily sleeping on her stomach and also seems to enjoy the position because I think she is getting into the early stages of 'crawling' (god help me!!). Anyway, she is much happier sleeping on her stomach than on her back so thanks again for those of you that encouraged me to do this.
Good luck to those of you battling with the same challenge ! xo

If she does not like the bag then dont use it! She will learn to take care of this by herself. She will either become comfortable or she will learn to roll back over. Babys & people have to sometimes struggle a little to grow.

Try getting her use to sleeping on her stoach. When she rolls and is restless, try patting her back while she is on her stomach. Try laying on your back with her on your chest and patting her. Anything that makes her fell comfortable sleeping on her stomach.

Well I also have the same issue with my son who is now 7.5 months and still has night wakings. He used to sleep through the night but stopped at 6 months when he was teething but he cut his 1st two teeth and is still not sleeping through the night. It is like he regressed with only his sleeping. Well I cannot wait to hear what other moms say.

Buy a sleep positioner or a swadddler. She may be too old for a swaddler, but try the sleep positioner. You can get them at Babies R Us and Target. Good Luck!!! I know how you feel.

We had that problem and still do occasionally (she's 7 months). We would just go flip her over in the dark & leave ASAP and then let her settle back down. It only took ~10 min to fall back asleep. She'll do that 1st thing in the a.m., too, which is rough at 6am. Seems she is getting better at getting comfortable on her tummy, b/c we have less issues with it.
A sleep positioner is another idea but that may be hard to introduce now.

L., not sure if this helps at all. My baby girl (now 7 mths) used to wake herself up all the time. We were using a swaddle at night but she would get so hot that she would sweat and that lead to eczema flair ups also she would move and kick until she got out of the swaddle and by the morning the whole thing wouls be wrapped around her neck. So finally I just started putting her on her tummy (I know I wasn't supposed to) but she slept so much better. She has been sleeping on her tummy since at least 3-4 mths old. No more moving or jumping in her sleep. Now at 6-7 months as soon as I put her in her crib she will turn over onto her tummy on her own and go to sleep. Hope that helps a little
