Very rarely...a baby will NEVER take a bottle...no matter how many nipples/formulas are tried.

So...step one...try different nipples & different formulas.

Also...in the beginning...try the non-powdered kind. The powder always comes out slightly gritty, while the pricier premixed is smoother and creamier. (From someone who made it a point to always squirt some of "whatever" into her mouth first)

Here are a couple alternatives, if you've got a hard case:

- SNS ...the tube you tape to your breast
- You can try spooning it.
- You can actually try a regular cup/straw cup/or sippy cup
- You can make a "milk bladder". This is oldschool, before rubber nipples, much less silicone & latex nipples.
Step 1) Empty a waterbottle
Step 2) Fill it with lukewarm formula
Step 3) Take a folded, sterilized cloth, and attach it over the bottle opening. The rubberbands used for braces are great for this BTW.
Step 4) The infant sucks/licks the formula from the cloth "nipple"

If you want to give a bottle, then good luck with that. I can't tell you. My last 2 never took one - even with breastmilk.

If you want to get your milk supply up, make sure you are dirinking enough water and get some Mammary PMG from Standard Process. It works every time. Also, the darker the beer, the more milk moms make.

De stressing will help both of you. You both could use the mothering hormones and a bit a time together it sounds like.

Use it as your dessert!

Love and blessings,
Deb

Try drinking lots tea or putting heat on your breast & see if your milk will come back in. Try him on a bottle with water. It may take a couple different kinds of nipples or different formulas. If the heat or tea won't help. The formula may cause constipation. If so give water with some white Karo syrup.

I did not use bottles. From the time they were 3 months old and started with water, juice what ever, I gave them sippie cups. There is no "breaking" later and they go to a regular cup super easy too. They have the soft spout cups, look around there are all shapes and sizes. Some thermal ones for cold drinks on hot days or it will keep things warmer too. Good luck.

Sorry I'm late, But when hungry enough they will eat. Don't give him anything but the bottle when he/she cries if that is all that is offered they will eventually drink because they are so hungry. Trust me he/she won't starve to death. They will give in and eat it might take several hours but they will give in if that's all they are offered. Good luck this is harder on you then them but we all learn how to get what we want at an early age. Some things we just don't get a choice on. That also is something learned. It's heart breaking to hear them cry because you know they are hungry but they do give in. Good Luck! J.
