Hello Moms!

I was just wondering if anyone knew how to get discount tickets to Disneyland. Our family has not been to Disneyland in about 5 yrs..so...it's somewhat going for the FIRST time for us. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Discount tickets? Best places to go to while there? Shuttle service from the airport to the hotel? Taxi or Shuttle? --THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

I just got tickets for a trip in April and I got mine through www.workingadvantage.com. It was cheaper than AAA, Costco and the Disney site.

Hi ~
We go every few years. We've booked through getawaytoday.com and had great service and competitive prices. We went for a short weekend trip a few weeks ago and I actually got my tickets on eBay! No kidding! Many people get the week hopper passes and only use a day or two. Just be sure to watch the dates to make sure they will still be good during the time period you are planning to be there. Another idea, we stayed at the Homewood Suites. A full breakfast is available daily, evening mini-meals Mon-Thurs. The rooms have a full-sized refridgerator, microwave, stove cooktop and a seperate bedroom area. Two TVs and spacious. Also has washer/dryer on the first floor. Two pools. NOT within walking distance, but just down the street from Disneyland. You can find less expensive accomodations, but for us it was well worth the price, and honestly, it was not that much more than hotels offering much less. They do have a shuttle if you don't want to drive. We had our four kids and my parents and a few cousins - booked two rooms and had a great time. Remember, just have fun!

Check out Mousesavers.com. It is a site dedicated to finding ways to save at Disneyland resorts. It has information on shuttle services and hotels as well as tip from other travelers on the best places to go etc. I have found the site very helpful in planning our trip in May. I haven't been there in 20 years and am looking forward to rediscovering it with my three kids.

We just went in February with our 2 year old for her birthday and we looked on Craigslist. We also posted our own ad on CL that said we were looking for tickets. Someone who had tickets to sell responded to that ad and ended up meeting us at the entrance to the park and gave us the tickets. He also walked us to the gate and made sure we got in. We got 2 one day park hopper tickets for $90. It would have cost us double that. (our daughter was free). Just be sure they will meet you at the park and watch you get in so you know the tickets are good. He happened to be an employee who got free tickets and didnt need them. Good Luck!

Hi Cel :O)

First, I noticed that you put "TIRED MOM OF 3" in your posting :O) Well, Disneyland will not be that relaxing for you. It will be cute and fun, but as the mommy, you will be very tired after your adventure.

To find tickets, I went onto www.disneyland.com to find the adventure. There are sooooooo many hotel choices, so you can narrow it down on this site.

If you're flying, most hotels have shuttle service for you from the airport. This info will on your hotels website.

For the Park, I would borrow a nice double-stroller if you don't have one, and rent one at the Park for your 3rd child. In the jogger styles, your kids can fall asleep in them and be comfortable, which keeps them less cranky :O) The less your kids walk, the happier they will be for a long day.

Have fun! I'm a little jealous :o)

Hi Cel, right now you can great deals for Disneyland. I think through April everyone goes as a kid. You pay the kid price. We have stayed right accross the street at the Marriott Fairfield Inn. Prices are great and location is perfect. There are also many places to eat within walking distance from that hotel. You can also get great packages through getawaytodayvacations.com. The prices are great and right now they are offering all sorts of free stuff. I think probably either the taxi or shuttle would be good. I believe all are kid friendly. Good luck and have fun.

He Cel-
There are 3 things I know of: the first is to sign up on the birthday of one of your family members- they can get in free to the park. The other two are AAA Club, and Kern Schools Federal Credit Union. Usually you can get discount tickets, but regardless, if you have 5 people it's going to be pricey. THe food inside is pretty pricey, too, but it's a really fun trip. Make sure to budget for snacks, food, and a little shopping (just in case).
Hope this helps!

Hi Cel, You can get small discounts at AAA if you are a member there or sometimes frommCredu=it Unions if you are a member there. They are still just a slight discount. There is a place down there called the Disney Character Warehouse where you can buy low priced souveneirs. The stuff is the discontinued stuff so not current but still they have great stuff.

We just got back from Disneyland in early March and had the best time! We stayed at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel which is within walking distance from the parks. Clean, cheap ($69/night), and we liked that the toilet/shower was separate from the double sinked vanity area. Beds were comfy but the water was a little chilly one morning so I would suggest showering at night. But for us, to save at least $40/night from other hotels it was worth it. Also, you can get free buffet for kids with each paying adult ($9.99) so we thought that was a good deal.

MUST SEE Small World if you have young ones. Also if you have girls, you must see the meet and greet princesses. OMG my children LOVE that. Even my 2-1/2 year old son. I would suggest getting there when the park opens, hopping on the train and taking it over to ToonTown. The princesses are there and you might get lucky and not have to wait too long in line. Also, Pirates of the Carribean.

There are a lot of restaurants within walking distance from the hotels in the area. Cheaper then the park. Good luck and have fun. We are planning our next trip for May 2009!!!

Look on Craigslist.org. There are always people that buy 5 day park hoppers, but only use 2 or 3 days. They usually sell the left overs pretty cheap. Or if you have a credit union, they usually have discount tickets. I think most hotels have shuttles to Disneyland, but I dont know about from the airport (We always drive there). Good luck and have fun! :)

hi, I know Cisco employees get discounts as well as anyone in the military. Dineyland website tickets cost less when multiple days are purchased. Getaway today packages are about $100 less than disney with a $20 process fee and different incentives, but nothing to really lose out on. Another differnce between the two is that if you ever need to make payments on your vacation package Disneys payment installments are of no charge, where as getaway today charges I think $25 per transaction. Have fun!

You can try AAA. They have a travel service that has some pretty good prices on tickets. My husband and I have found some pretty good deals that way. If you belong to a credit union, they might have deals on tickets too. I know they do for places like Great America, Marine World. When I'm down there, I'm a HUGE fan of Medieval Times. They are a bit pricy, but it's a great show with some good food. You can even have your kids "knighted" or given the lord/lady treatment. It's a fun family show. There is also Knott's Berry Farm or Universal Studios. I hope this helps! Now I want to go!!

I would take the shuttle from the airport and stay at a hotel within walking distance of the park. There are also shuttles and buses in the Disney area.
We stayed at a Travelodge on West Ball and easily walked to Disneyland. Check to see if you can find a package deal with them or Wyndham.
You can also check with anyone who works at a large company to see if they can get you discounts. If you know someone who lives in Southern California, they can get you discount tickets. The military is also a good place for discount tickets.

if you have a So Cal Zip code there are deals directly thru Disney website OR the 3day is price of child. Really do need at least 3days to get through all the attractions you want with waits in line, bathroom & eating breaks! not sure if you're military? we got that deal - active AND retired get the 3day pass FREE and up to five family members only $87! We JUST got back this week & really enjoyed our hotel Residence Inn in Garden Grove. Very clean, awesome FREE breakfast, great service, convenient & fast drive or shuttle for $4 ea. Great price & space for 8ppl in a 2Bdrm w/ 2Bths. BBQd the first night we arrived on their gas grill next to the pool. for the Parks...Take advantage of the 'Fast Pass'-read in the brochure so you understand & know which rides offer it. BUT get those first thing in the morning for the first ride you know you want or that you know is popular & busy. read the bottom for wait time to aquire ANTOHER Fast Pass at a diff ride. not sure ages of your kids, but if there is a child that has to stay behind at a ride with an adult you can ask for 'transfer pass' at the actual ride to pass on to the adult waiting for you to get off the ride. If your kids are into Star Wars & lightsabers you gotta head over to the 'Jedi Training Academy'!! Get there early about 30min BEFORE the show begins for a front row seat & HOPE your child gets picked. then if there are others in your family that won't be sitting in front of the show they can try to grab a good front row seat in the 'food court'. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters was great & line moved fast. CA Adventure has the 'Soarin over CA' ride which is the BEST for the whole fam! (height req 40" or 42"?)we didn't get to do 'Toy Story Midway Mania' cuz the line was crazy long. But the 'Turtle Talk with Crush' every 1/2 hour is GREAT!- might even try doing it a couple times. my 5yr old son was pissed both times we went b/c he wasn't picked to asked the turtle a question! BUT then he got to fight Darth Vader at the Jedi thing. we could've done without the Aladin show, maybe best for families with girls. if you need strollers try to get it early before they sell out. my 5yr old's legs were hurting 1/2 way through ea day, but had to check back for a stroller b/c late morning they were sold out. if you're into the ears you can have them personalized free of charge, but just do it first thing in morn before lines or at end of day when no lines. they have a huge variety of ears now-not just the regular Mickey. if you're celebrating a bday make sure to ask any employee for a pin (bring a sharpie for the name)-everyone will say happy bday (i think that's why my son got picked for Jedi) They also have other pins for just celebrating or for FIRST TIME! my family had a bunch of pics taken through out the park (w/their photographer) & then you can view & order from home. hope this is good info.

Costco might have discount passes and AAA has a program with hotels etc. Parking in the garage is about $10 day.

Visit the Disney website and plan your activities! The best thing you can do is get to Disneyland EARLY and do Fantasyland with the kids. It gets packed- esp Peter Pan. You may want to get a fastpass for Roger Rabbit Cartoon Spin and/or Space Mountain. Indiana Jones is another popular one with a long Que but I don't know if your kids will want to go. Finding Nemo is fun but also a long wait. You may want fast passes.

If you know someone in the millitary or retired they have best discount on passes! My dad worked at Nasa and he bought tix in the gift shop.

Make lunch reservations at Rain Forest cafe in downtown Disney it's affordable family food. The Pizza Port in Tomorrow Land is great too. You get a salad and share it. Same with tge pasta. Goofy's Kitchen is pricey but great character dinning. Make reservations in advance.
If you pick up the local discount flyer there's a coupon for the Ihop on Euclid(few blocks from park).
It's usually much quieter the the restaurants across from the park.

Most hotels have shuttles sometimes they get crowded and you have to wait. I remember a Day's
Inn that was close and had free breakfast and a van.

Have fun! My husband I can't wait to take our baby to Disneyland when he's ready. We used to have season passes(sigh...)

Hi- We just got back from disneyland a couple of days ago. Shared 5 day hoppers with friends who used two days before us. That saves tons right there. I would not try to do it in one day, just too much to see. We brought EVERYTHING into the park. Water, snacks etc. and then ate one nice meal a day in downtown disney. Eat in the park and you'll pay at least $50 for a crummy meal for four. We got a hotel within walking distance went back and forth one day and the other two went in the afternoon and closed down disney at 11:00. It was late for my little one but at 10pm right after the fireworks all the fantasyland kiddy rides were totally empty. We were able to do them all in an hour. Most had waits of 30-45 minutes each throughout the day so this was big! Those are the rides I remember as a kid and a must see for little ones. Also utilize the fast pass system, check it out online first so you get it. We would just grab a fast pass on arrival and then check the board for rides with shorter wait times. Honestly, we never waited more than 30 min and that was only once. Finally, it really pays to check out tips online first. Stuff like go to the left line instead of right, tomorrowland is very quiet after dark and adventureland is most crowded first thing in the morning proved to be true and help save lots of wait time. My husband and I kept joking to just do the opposite of what seemed obvious or what everyone else would do and we had great luck and an awesome time. Ebay and craigslist are full of people selling discount tickets, but do be careful as it seems a little risky. Good luck and have fun!
