How to Find a Preschool?

I worked in preschools and I can tell you right now, the school always puts up a good front when the parent is there observing. It is hard to know for sure if a school is good or not. Perhaps getting recommendations from other parents would help. Look for a small teacher/child ratio. Also, look for schools where the parents take turns helping in the school. That way , you can observe things more closely. I think these are called coop schools. Usually the difference between day care and preschool is that day care goes on every day and preschool is more for the growth of the children , so can be just a few days a week. Avoid day care! Montessori schools are good because they teach the child about his environment and skills to use in his environment. I hope this helps a little.

I highly recommend Learning Dynamics in Orem (close to Lindon). My children have attended LD and it is an amazing school. Registration for this fall is coming up very soon and they fill up fast. It is more academic based, and MWF or TTh, and my children have loved every minute. They have begun kindergarten with a strong reading ability and comprehension and I attribute that to the curriculum and teaching techniques they provided. Good luck!

Research, research and research... Not just on line but go and visit (without an appointment). I found a great one in Draper/Sandy area probably not too close for you but, My daughter was the best judge. I found that the one that gave me the best feeling. The environment that I knew she would fit well with. some are two day, some are three day... But I went to some top ranked schools and found that they seemed too much like a day care rather then a positive learning atmosphere.
The place we go to, my daughter runs in ahead of me - everyday, throws her coat off and is in before I can even kiss her goodbye. Now that says a lot. Just don't get caught up in over thinking it. Just use your best judgement and go with your gut on where your child will be comfortable and well taken care of. You can always switch to a public school or a private school/Charter school when they are heading to Kindergarten... Wish I could help you out for the area you were looking in. good Luck
