How Often Do You Do Laundry?

I have a husband and two boys, 2 and 4, and I have to do a load of laundry every day...otherwise it would pile up all week and I'd be spending an entire day doing it. My kids have plenty of clothes but they spill food on them at meal times and just get dirty from playing outside. I try to have them wear play clothes 2 days in a row often. It just seems like it never ends. Is this the norm, how often do you do laundry...and if only once a week, how is that possible? I can't let clothing that has food on it sit in a laundry basket with out risking mold growing during the hot and humid summer...yuck! I'd love some tips on how to make this easier.

What can I do next?

Every damn day... :-/

Bright side. - Just 1 load a day. :)

But I also use cloth diapers, and wash a load of those every other day.

My goal in life is an empty hamper. And I actually achieve that. Everyday. For about 5 minutes.

(5 peeps, including 3 teenagers, and two dogs)

:(

If you get any good answers, let me know! I have always wondered the same thing. I have just one little one...I used to do laundry 2-3 times a week, but by the weekend I was still spending all day doing it...so now my new motto is "A load a day, keeps the laundry away!" I guess it's just something we have to deal with. =(

Every day is the easiest way, really. Just build it into your morning and afternoon routines. I used to "re-boot" the laundry in the morning wherever it had left off the day before - be it a new load going in, something going into the dryer (or re-starting the dryer - ours took 2-3 cycles per load), or something coming out of the dryer to be folded and put away.or all three. And I'd re-boot again at the end of the day when I got home from work.

Now that we can't do laundry at home due to septic system issues, we go to the laundromat once a week. It takes $20 - $30, 4 giant washers, 6 dryers and three hours to wash, dry and fold. Giant waste of time. I'd much rather do 10 minutes in the morning and another 10 at night and not spend hours and hours doing it all at once.

Laundry is like cooking or doing dishes or tidying up the bathroom. The chore is never "done" it's just a process that you do every day as part of your routine.

Hubby and I have two girls, a 3 yr old and a 7 mo old, and do multiple loads per day. Lights, darks, towels, and pinks!

Pretty much every day :(
I can't stand to have it pile up either, and the last thing I want is to be chained to the laundry room all day.
I am a stickler about people hanging up their towels to dry, and not getting into bed dirty/sweaty, so that helps keep the linen & towel washing down somewhat. But even with my two teens doing their own wash now, I still have a lot. It's just a fact of (a clean) life I guess!

I have two boys (almost 10 and almost 7) and a baby girl, 19 months. I do laundry almost every single solitary day. My husband and two boys play soccer 3 times a week, the baby spills on herself daily (almost every meal!) and we are always playing outside.
Now, I am a great multi-tasker, so it's really not too too bad. But, I suck at folding a putting away. I usually have about 3-4 loads on the floor in front of the dryer and then I say, "Everyone get their baskets!" and I divide it into the right kids basket and they are in charge of putting it away.
I really loathe doing laundry.

Its typical for me to do two loads 5 x week. I'm at about 10 loads a week so sometimes i do two big laundry days and sometimes I spread it out. But one thing is for sure, I hate folding heaps of laundry which is why I like to incorporate a load here and a load there so I'm not folding ALL day. I do sheets and towels on Monday and kid's clothes on Wed or Thur. Everything else I play by ear.
