How Much to Pay Housesitter??????? - Saint Louis,MO

We need help in figuring out how much to pay a house sitter. A little about the housesitter, she is 19 and in college and her job duties would be to let the dogs out and feed them everyday and take out the trash on trash day. She will be staying at the house the entire time (Monday evening thru Friday morning), since we do not want to board our dogs. Any help that can be provided would be wonderful....

What can I do next?

When I was 20 (20 years ago!), I house-sat for four months while going to school. These folks also had a dog. I was paid $5 a day...granted...it was for four months.

For a short-term, one week, maybe $15-$20 a day? And a gift from your travel?

Good morning, D.. That's a good question. I house-sat once for a family in the Chesterfield, MO area. They were my sister's future in-laws at the time. If I'm not mistaking, I was paid $150 for the week. I had the same thing, I had to feed their dogs, let them out, take the trash out and wash whatever dishware that I used while I was there.

We paid $25 dollars a night for ours. Same background facts as yours: college kid & 2 dogs. Have your neighbors watch to make sure she's there a reasonable amount of time. We found out ours spent 99.9% of the time at her boyfriend's place & would only occasionally stop by to fed/let the dogs out. All along we assumed she spent her free time at the house giving the dogs company.

I house sit and pet sit and when i did just recently and did not get paid nearly as much as i should have. I think for 5 days it would be ok to give about 40-50 a day. especially since you need her to stay at the house. thats just what i think. good luck!
