How Many Hours a Day Is Your Child at daycare?I

I am ready to go back to work FT. Im ok with putting my daughter in preschool, but I was starting to think about how long she would be there each day. I know she will enjoy it and stay very busy. I was just curious.. to the other working moms out there- how long does your darling spend at child care each day?

What can I do next?

I work full time. 7:30am to 5:00PM. They love it and I did feel guilty at first. But once I saw they are very happy and safe. They always come home with art work and tell me all of the things they do. Its the same when they started school.

I work full time and always have. My son has been cared for by someone outside of our home since he was 7 weeks old. He was cared for by my MIL from 7 weeks - almost 4 months, then he went to an in home daycare. He's there from about 7:45 - 5:15 every day. He LOVES it and is thriving. Our sitter is teaching him his alphabet and counting as well as caring for him. I think he likes it there better than he does at home sometimes because he's got kiddos his own age to play with.

When I was a daycare provider I had children hear 10 hours a day. Mostly because of the commute.

I work 2-3 days a week, 12 hour days. So my husband is responsible for the drop-off and pick-up. He works a typical M-F 8-5. He drops our son off at about 7:30 and picks him up at about 5:45. I imagine if I worked a regular schedule and worked 5 days as week that would be his regular schedule; in by 7:30 out by 5:45. Good luck.

I whole hardly believe there is not a daycare out there that will nurture your child like yourself. I rush to pick-up & want to be with my child as much as I can. I purposely chose a daycare between home & work so he would not be the first dropped off in the morning nor the last picked-up. The location also makes it convenient for us to take him to the doctor/dentist if necessary during work hours. Some ideas to consider, your child is a daycare product of our great nation.

My daughter stays no longer than 5 hours a day.

My 7 year old is there after school from about 3pm to 5:30. My 6 month old is at his babysitter from 6:45 or 7am to about 5:30pm. He was home with me for 3 months, then home with dad for a month and started with his babysitter at the end of August. Although I do miss him during the day I know he is well cared for and he is thriving there with the other children.

When I worked, I was a school teacher. So, my husband would do the taking in the morning about 8:00 and I'd pick him up about 4:00 unless I had a meeting which was only every once in a while. So, for most part I guess 8 hours a day. I lived about 5 minutes away from the school I worked at and the babysitter was on the way from my house to the school.
