How Do I Find an Occasional Babysitter in the Ferndale, Royal Oak Area?

I understand where you're coming from. My husband and I have a 2 yr old named Austin and we haven't gonge out in a long time..We live in Ferndale also. I will let you know if I can find anyone, I am so picky about who watches him so my husband blames me for never being able to go anywhere. I have a 2 1/2 year old and am very pickey about baby-sitters. We currently use one of Brendan's teachers from his daycare, which works out great for us. However, we also occassionally use a Wayne State and Oakland Univ students. I would suggest posting at the universities education department or calling the education department to see if they are any job wanted postings and interviewing those students--- they usually charge more, we pay $10 an hour-- but it's totally worth it to me.

Also, you mentioned your family members also have young children-- what about a swap, so you each get a night out? I know this is easier said than done with naps, and sleeping, etc...but if you are desperate... it might be a solution.

Our daycare lady lives in Ferndale and has a 14 year old daughter that also babysits for my 15 month old from time to time. She is very good. She is the oldest of 4 and her mom has taught her well!! I will give her your email address and hopefully you can make connections!!
