Hello ladies, you have always been such a great help! Well I have a another one for you.

I am 29 and recently had a hystertomy (sp?). For the most part I feel so much better than I did before the surgery. They had to take one of my ovary but were able to leave one. They havent prescribed me hormones yet and Im not sure I need it on a daily basis yet. My problem is the occasional hot flashes, the fact I NEVER had a problem with sweating and now if I dont wear deodarnt when its 40 degrees outside I will smell badly of bo. Then there is the other problem, of the occasional emotion meltdown. The kids cant do anything with out driving me insane. If you say the wrong thing I will burst into tears. Has anyone else had to deal with this? Is there something more herbal/natural that I can take when I can tell its one of those days?

What can I do next?

I have had a hormone imbalance since I was about your age and I went to a doctor that deals primarily in bio-identical hormones. He did a blood screen on me and found out that I had almost no progesterone in my body. I was experiencing the same symptoms that you are talking about. I would wake up at 2 in the morning and not be able to get back to sleep and then be ready for a nap for thing in the afternoon and it was so h*** o* me since I was working. There is a progesterone cream at the health food store that you can use and I also had good luck with a pill called New Phase over the counter. These are really great products but I would suggest going and getting your blood drawn first. These products can cause different results and you should get the blood test because I also found out that I was low in several other vitamins also. In the meantime, exercise can help you to some degree. Taking a walk to clear you mind is great. I can say that I do my best thinking at the gym.

If you are interested/open to the possibility of a supplement, let me know. I have been taking one that has helped me with many health issues. And, I have spoken to women who take the supplement specifically to help with hot flashes and mood swings that come from hormonal imbalance. I am glad that you are feeling better now that you've had the surgery, and I hope you continue to feel better each day.

You should check with your doctor before starting anything herbal. Most products contain soy, which mimics hormones so it might confuse the doctor once they start you on Rx hormones. But be sure to tell your doctor what is going on as you have been instantaneously thrown into menopause! Menopause is the reason they invented cardigan sweaters. I haven't worn an "over the head" sweater in at least a decade. To stay calm in the meantime, see if you can do some meditation or yoga or even a walk.

hello
I haven't had a hysterectomy, but I can relate in terms of hormonal issues and hot flashes.. also, mood swings. Truly, in my opinion the best that works for me at least is EXERCISE... I notice a HUGE difference when I exercise. I feel and look better and too, emotionally.... omg, what a difference.. I don't know how old your kids are, I am guessing still somewhat young .. therefore, you may not have a ton of time, but even if you get out and walk 5 miles.. oh that might sound like a lot but if you do it in place that is fun like say around a lake where it is beautiful or even do as I do with my son, take city walks.. it all adds up. additionally, I drink lots of water, this helps your body process hormones better (at least I think so) in that I consider water to be what gasoline is to a car.. it's fuel source..
lastly, sleep... boy, when I'm sleep deprived look out. .with the hormone fluctuations you might not be sleeping well, in which case, try and stay clear of too much caffeine , candy and or other things that might give you the jitters and cause you restless sleep.
I wish you the best

I'd call the dr - you may need additional hormones b/c what you are describing sounds like menopause-like symptoms. Maybe one ovary isn't enough to meet your body's needs. It's worth the phone call.
