I am homeschooling my son and it is working out pretty good. If you are able to be there during the day to help it helps out more. My son is in the ninth grade so he is old enough to stay at home by himself and do his school work. But there are times that he kindof slugs off and doesn't get it all done till we get him after work. Let me know if you want the name of the online school we are doing.

Hello C.,
I homeschool and love the freedom. Started when our daughter was 6 while we were living in Texas. It has been a great experience for our family. Here is a good website to start with..

http://www.rmec-online.com/laws/CO_law_inanutshell.html

If your children have currently been in a regular school setting I would suggest taking 2 weeks to a month off just to - deschool... There is an article on that website that talks about it. Do fun stuff during that time and find out what they are interested in learning.

Then you just go from there. We use a unite study for school which we love, it has really brought learning to life for my children. It contains alot of hands on activities too. Covers everything except for math. http://learning-adventures.org/

Here is a sorce I use for some curriculum:
https://www.lamppostpublishing.com/index.htm

Mardels in Littleton has curriculum you could look through too. There are online curriculums. SO many options. Don't let it overwhelm you just pick something that works for you and your family.

Though the last couple of years we have been using alot of library books and doing projects with what we have been learning.

You can look at our family blog at the kids JamesTown project if you like: http://W.-adventures.blogspot.com/

There are so many opportunities out there more so than any other education system out there whether it is private or public.

Ok I have rattled on enough - if you have any questions feel free to ask me. There are some neat homeschool groups in the area too I could share with you too. Some you can find on Yahoo.

The main thing is to have FUN and not Stress.. Homeschooling is a lifestyle - just embrace it for what it is and you will see your chidren blossom like never before..

Noticed you are looking to add more income to your family..I could help you with that too. I work from home and love it. My website is: www.AHomeCareer.com
I am in Referral Marketing for a health and wellness company.

Have a great weekend!

I plan on homeschooling my daughter who is now only 8 months old. I have found alot of good info/advice/ideas from a web site dedicated to child training, family relationships and homeschooling. www.nogreaterjoy.org It's christain based, but even if you are not religous alot of it is just good old fashioned common sense.

if you decide to home school your kids make sure you register them with the county superintendent because they may not get credits to graduate. last year we had an awsome girl on our wrestling team. she was from a troubled home and was way behind in her work because of missing so much school. she really liked wrestling ( she was one of 2 that went to state and wrestled boys.) what was supposed to be her senior year ws not going to happen because she didnt have enough credits and she seemed to have gotten her life together and wanted to go to college. so she decide her senior year to be homeschooled and she did a great job she caughtup on all her credits and then some. she applied for scholarships and got them. but when graduation time came, thee was no record of her homeschooled credits and she didnt graduate. really sucks cause she tried so hard
