Hello Moms,

I hope everyone had a wonderfull Christmas. We did but, I have a problem. We have so many toys that I don't know how to organize them and really don't want to get rid of them since I have an inhome childcare, I like to switch out the toys so they always have different things to play with.. My daughters birthday was 5 days ago and she got alot of toys then Christmas and I'm just running out of ideals on how to be creative and make everything look organized. I'm just wanting to see how other moms organize and what they use to keep all the toys looking organized.

What can I do next?

We bought the storage shelving units at Ikea for my daughter's playroom. We bought 2 of them in 2 different sizes so that we would have a little room on top for storing bigger toys. I also bought the plastic bins for half of the cubbies so that we could stores smaller things all together. It's made a huge difference. It's easy for her to see and access all of her toys, as well as easy for her to clean up and keep organized.

I have no idea :) but you might want to check out Flylady.net - it's a home organizing/cleaning resource site and they may have some good info on that. I'll probably need the same help next year (LOL)!

We absolutely love the childrens storage sets at Ikea. I too have an in home daycare, and was just struggling with this today..which toys to keep, where to put the new ones...I have 4 of my own kids, so there is plenty!! But, those buckets come in a variety of sizes and colors, as well as the shelving units that hold them. (Sorry, I cant remember the name, but they are in the childrens area!) That, and some cabinets in the garage that we store the toys to trade in and out with. We use the same buckets, so that they will fit right in the shelves when it is time. HTH!! Good luck! ~A.~

I run into the same issue. First, anything that was random or they didn't play with too much got tossed out for charity, etc. (like party favor toys, kid meal toys, etc., etc.). This really helped!

I have the bucket storage bins which help a lot. I attempt (ha ha) to keep like things together. The over-the-door shoe organizers work well for toys. I use a shallow wooden bin (from Target on the kid room aisle) for books. I keep all stuffed animals limited to one basket in their bedroom.

I also keep several small tubs and baskets from dollar tree put away. It helps b/c then everything isn't out and I can pull it out on a rainy day. Then everything isn't out at once and they can actually focus on something to play with.

Good luck! :)

I have 6 LARGE tubs filled with different toys. I numbered them and circulate them every few weeks. For my son, its like getting new toys every time we get out a new bin. I really want something like this because it has lids: http://www.waitingroomtoysnfurniture.com/ProductDetails.a...

I have a huge toy chest that my husband made ( i keep the "out of season" toys in there- stuff that i switch out) We also have a toy shelving thing with buckets. I found this at TRU for about $40. I labeled the buckets: balls, trains, trucks, animals, tools, music, blocks.
We are moving soon to a house with an entire wall of cabinets. I will get a bunch of baskets and store toys in there as well. Finally, i will get to hide most of the toys!!!!!
Hope that could help some
