My son is 8 Months old he drinks all his formula, but he will not eat solids. I don't know what to do, he is still gaining some weight from drinking but is he getting all his vitamins?

What can I do next?

I have a 10 month old girl, and she goes through stages. For a few weeks she will eat like a champ, then all of a sudden she won't let the spoon by her. I wouldn't worry about it. He'll eat when he's hungry.

Putting FOOD into a bottle is a BAD idea. Babies need to learn to eat food. Its a learned skill. If you put it in the bottle its not teaching them to eat. Food in the bottle will cause them to overeat and gain too much weight. Your baby should be getting most of his nutrients through breast milk. Or formula. Your baby will start to eat solids when he is ready. Dont give up, just try a little bit everyday. I agree you should start with something he will like, such as bananas, or apples.
Just think about in nature a mother cannot open her breast to put some puree carrots in there...Bottles are for formula, not solid food.

I also have an 8 month old boy. Are you giving him solids before bottle or bottle before solids? For a while I was giving my son bottle then solids and he just was not eating well at all. The problem was he was getting full from the bottle and wouldn't eat his solids. I switched my feeding method and his eating habits have changed. And on those days where he is being a pain to feed I give him some squash and pears, which are his favorites, this helps get him back in the groove. What stage solid food are you feeding? We went through a point where I just couldn't get my son to eat solids anymore, my doctor suggested he may be bored and that I should go from using stage 2 to stage 3 and it worked like a champ. Also I have found for my sanity that it is ok if he does not finish. Its better to not force it, feeding time should be a happy time for him. Just keep trying every day and one day it will just click for him.

if hes not eating baby food try cutting back a little on the bottle or dont give it to him until you try feeding him first. And bananas are a favorit. if he';s not eatin plaine cereal try mixing it with fruit?

Based on what my doctor told me, food at this point isn't as important as we, as adults, think it is. Formula is packed with nutrition. If you're concerned, ask your doctor for some tips. My son is 14 months and still won't eat regular people food--only pureed baby food.

I agree with Crystal. Babies will eat solid foods when they are ready. Every kid is different. In fact, with my last child, who is now 3 years old. I didn't put any food in his mouth to encourage him to eat. He was strictly nursed, until he was ready to start solids and when he did, it was not baby cereal, it was bananas. I would only put food in his highchair tray and when he was ready, he put it to his mouth. Honestly, I don't know when he actually started feeding himself (I mean at which month of age.)
