Looking for a good skin regimen. I've used Clinique and Marykay in the past, however, after the birth of my last child, I've neglected my skin horribly. I'm not opposed to dept store or rep sold products, I just want something that works and is worth the money. So mommas out there, What are your suggestions or favorites?

What can I do next?

I have really, really sensitive skin. I use the Olay Regenerist products and love them. I've tried Philosophy, Neutrogena, Clinique, Mary Kay, and a few others. Olay is still the best.

I think it's more important to nurture your skin - your body's largest organ - from INSIDE and less from topical creams. I'm not opposed to cosmetics and I do use a balanced moisturizer and gentle cleansers. But the biggest improvement in my skin (and my hair and my overall health) has come from nutrition. I have better skin that most women 10 years younger, and it's only gotten better as I have aged.

I like the trader joe's nourish facial wash, it's formulated by an unnamed well known dermatologist, and is amazing! Occasionally I add a teaspoon of baking soda or sugar for extra exfoliation. I too like the original Olay moisturizer.

Everyone's skin is different, so I strongly recommend you check out www.beautypedia.com. The information and reviews are based on scientific evaluations of the products and the recommendations are backed by research that is cited throughout the site. I've been using the reviews for years and have seen a great improvement in my skin, at all different life stages. Plus, I was shocked to see that no one line of products is good as a whole. Most seem to have some good products and some bad products, so I combine a bunch of different product lines into my own skin care regimen.

I am a firm believer and user of Clinique and have been since I was 11 and I am 50. I pass for early to mid 30"s and have even been asked for my id at my daughter's Sr. high school.

That said.... sometimes you can get too used to a product, over clean, etc., therefore not get what you need for your skin.

Have you been to a dermatologist? If not, do so... they can help you navigate and see if there are underlying issues with your skin, especially since you are postpartum.

My 17 yr old is also an avid user of CLiinique and has been since she was about 11. I did, however, take her to a dermatologist as a proactive measure when she was about 11 so we could make sure we did everything necessary to avoid breakouts.

Thankfully, mostly to good genes, we both have great skin BUT, we both are very active with our routine which is at least twice daily wash, moisturizers, toners, etc whatever is needed for our skin type. it is also very vital to drink a LOT of water, eat properly (good skin from the inside out theory) get good rest (we sleep on satin pillowcases), and use sunscreen DAILY.

Would I recommend CLinique... 100% yes. Are there products at Target that you could use and get good results??? 100% yes. You have to put in the effort to get in the routine.

Daughter and I also use the face cleaner sort of like Clairsonic except the one from Target that is about $20 and a face scrub routinely as well.

Dermatologist also recommend Cetaphil, Purpose and Clinique. You have to find what is best for your skin... As you have learned, your skin changes from time to time due to hormones, nutrients, etc.

Best wishes.

This website is great for looking up products to see how "clean" they are:
http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/
I would recommend Arbonne, it's a very natural skin-care line.
My friend Stacey is a representative ###-###-####). If you host a party you can try the products for free and see if you like them!
Good luck!

I love origins! I think they sell it at Macy's and some malls have an actual store. I use "a perfect world". It's really great products. It's expensive, but I really love it. My face feels super clean with their cleanser and it's not drying at all. I use their scrub once a week and it's amazing and not too harsh. Their moisturizer is awesome. It doesn't cause break outs, it's not oily but it's light and has cleared up my dry skin issues perfectly. I love their products!

My two favorites are Decleor, great face milk wash and balm for night rejuvenation.

I also love Dr. Dennis Gross products. They have one moisturizer called the Maximum Moisture treatment...it is a the cadillac of moisturizer.
And also Dr. Dennis Gross has alpha hydroxy daily treatment pads to get rid of the top layer which can be dull. I recommend a 30 day treatment of this.

for a weekly scrub, I use an inexpensive one from the grocery store. If I am doing a 30 day alpha hydroxy treatment, i do not use an anti-acne scrub once a week. But I like the anti-acne scrubs in general because I think the menthol effect is very fresh.
