HCG Diet - Yukon,OK

I'm interested to know of any experiences with or opinions of the HCG diet. My first thought was it was just another fad diet, but I read the "Pounds and Inches" manuscript that was written by the doctor who contrived the diet, and now I wonder if it's not actually viable. I've looked into local clinics offering HCG treatment as well and it's not AS expensive as I thought it would be, but I still wouldn't call it cheap.

Has anyone done it? How was your success rate? Did you do the drops or shots? How did you feel? Were you tired all the time, were you starving? Did you use an appetite suppressant? And most importantly, if you had it to do over, would you?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you for your input, ladies.

My whole family is on the HCG bandwagon and I just do not get it! My mother in law has done it 3 times. She claims she is never hungry on it. However, while she dropped quite a bit of weight in a short amount of time, she has gained most of it back already (2 months later). My mom lost 18 pounds in 3 weeks and was starving the whole time. She was exhausted and went to bed at 7:30 every night just to avoid eating. Immediately after finishing the shots she went on an eating rampage because she had felt so deprived. She gained all the weight back plus some and is at her heaviest now, 1 year later. My sister-in-law went on it for 3 days and almost passed out at work from hunger. She was shaking so bad she could hardly function. My other sister-in-laws mom and dad both did it a year ago. They looked fantastic then but now a year later they have gained back all the weight.

You should know that in order to do this diet you have to restrict your calories to 500 a day. Of course you will lose weight if you only eat that much, because your body will start eating muscle. And chances are, once you go back to normal eating the pounds will pile on. The best way to lose weight and keep it off is to make life style changes you can stick to in the long term.

I was just reading an article about "The Most Dangerous Diets." I wish I would have saved it. Many very well respected doctors (I know Dr. Oz feels this way) have spoken out against this diet. It's just not safe. Sure, you will loose weight. Anyone cutting their calories so low it's dangerous for brain function will. Cutting your calories that low affects muscle deterioration, heart function brain function, and a whole host of other body functions.

they actually just released a big study on the biggest fads of 2010 and whether or not they were real or scam. The HCG diet and the shake weight were some of the biggest scams.

My husband did the HCG diet, and yes, he lost a good 40 lbs. but as soon as he got off of it, be gained back 30 lbs. He has tried it 3 times and always has the same result. you have to eat next to nothing.

ANY and ALL fad diets are bad for you. You will probably lose weight on any of them, but always gain back as soon as you stop. And you can't stay on them because they don't allow enough nutrients for your body to function. I am a physical therapist (who has always struggled with my own weight) so I know what I'm talking about. The only safe way to lose weight and keep it off permanently is to commit to eating healthy foods and exercising as much as possible, even if it's just walking more. My advice is to find a support group and do that instead.

my mother in law did it. she had been dieting and working out and nothing had worked, actually one of the diet pills she took gave her cysts on her ovaries-(one ruptured and she had to have a historectomy) and she was recommended to try this diet. She said she took a vitamin supplement with the mouth drops, and she lost alot of weight. she likes the diet, and she is going to do it again after her "down time" she only gained about 5 lbs after she got off the diet. the stuff u take suppress's your appetite- she told me she would forget to eat sometimes. You have to e very dedicated to the diet though, its a big commitment.

I have know people who've done it both ways (shot and drops). Those on the shots were very carefully monitored by their doctor and had a much better success rate then those using the drops. Those on the drops seemed to use it like any fad diet and gain it all (plus some) back.

we had a friend that tried it I really dont know how a normal person survives that diet and yes it worked great just like starving yourself works great until you eat something. I would never do it and he said he would never ever want to try that again it was miserable .
