Got Creative, Now I Have a Hair Crisis!

Ok, so it started with cutting a little hair that was out of place...then it developed into a- "I'm going to get creative and cut my own hair!" -kind of thing. Ok, so I thought I was going to be able to get away with it and have people just think that I had one of those unique hair cuts because I'm the type that's always trying new things, but I've been getting a lot of weird looks from everyone I know. And even though my hair is short now, compared to being long, no one has even said, "Oh, you cut your hair short!", I have gotten absolutely nothing. So, with that said, I need someone to fix it, but I'm embarrassed to walk into a salon and tell them what happened, does anyone have any suggestions(Other than, "Don't ever do that again!")?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much to everyone that replied. I did go to a salon, and luckily they did not laugh at me, but helped me out, now I have this super cute short hair cut that I absolutely love. Finally, people I know have noticed my new-new do and mentioned how good it looks.

Loved this post!!!!!!!!!!!

I often touch up my own hair and this particular time around my 16 year old daughter said it was NOT GOOD! oh well! it will grow back! I've got to learn not to go to the least expensive place!

Glad you got it fixed up and feel better!

I use a guy in McKinney, Casey Adams. He is great, I went to other people and like you, I did my own hair. He can fix anything, I think. If you want I have a card and with a free cut or a $35 off color. I can mail it to you if you want it. Or give you his number and you can make an apt. Its his cell so I dont want to post it for everyone.

You are so funny. Thanks for making me smile today :)

My suggestion? Go get it "fixed" by one of the great people that have been suggested below if you want to, but in the meantime, wear it with pride and tell yourself that the only reason nobody is commenting is because they are eaten up with jealousy and intimidated by your good looks and uber-trendy style. I'm sure you look gorgeous!

Kudos for having the courage to try to do it yourself!

Girl do not be embarrassed. I have had bad cuts by many so called trained professionals. When I was in beauty school this kid came in that his mom actually put a bowl on his head and cut his hair. Another bad one was a young hubby and wife and he did not like her hair on him when they slept so he cut her hair. REAlly bad. I have cut my own hair for years just once in awhile I go in to get it reshaped. Always hard in the back. We do not see it from all angles as others do and I even have pull out mirros in bathrooms to see it all. So go and get it done and do not worry about being embarrassed. I even had a kid cut mommy's bangs off when they were taing a nap and before mommy was asleep and baby was not she already had her bangs off when she woke up. Sich is life. When we all wore a lot of wigs they dropped them in the toilet and brought it in to be fixed. One gal had her hair fly off in a parking lot and chased it with her coat. Anyway, hope you get a good one to do it. I had a boss butcher me. Found out she had never really had a hands on hair cutting class and here she was running this Hotel salon. G. W

Oh my goodness - you are so funny. I do NOT mean this in a bad way at all. It seems so much like something I would do myself. And the, "And even though my hair is short now, compared to being long, no one has even said, "Oh, you cut your hair short!", I have gotten absolutely nothing." ROFL! I tried to find a place to give you a flower, but I can't find it anywhere. You deserve more than that. You deserve a real bunch of flowers - and chocolates.
It will grow - mine always does.

Oh my. Haven't we all been there a time or two?
Go to the salon and have them help you out or stay "different" and let the others deal with your new look. :)

Yes! Call to get in with Nichole at Old World Salon in Southlake ASAP. Her schedule is generally pretty accomodating. My first appt with her was very similar. I walked in, never knowing her, begging her for help with my GREEN hair....a home project as well. I've always CUT my own hair but never colored it. Nor will I ever AGAIN! Tell her T. sent you. I have been using her ever since. She helped me out of an awful pinch. ###-###-####.

I have an apointment at the Ogle Schools salon. My friend told me that she loves it. That there is no real reason to be nervcous because an instructor has to OK everything and is there the whole time. I"m not sure where you live but I used to go to Mona at the JCPenney salon in Collin Creek mall for years. Trust me, she had to fix a ton of self made mistakes. Now that I live in Hurst it is to hard to get to her.

Okay, the way I see it you have 2 choices. You can just call up a salon, tell them that you got a bad haircut and make an appointment to have someone fix it - no need to tell them that you did it yourself unless you just want to. Or, you can find a hairdresser that will come to your house, that way you're at home and only one person will see it. I personally don't know any around here, but I know they're out there. Good luck!

I sincerely doubt you'll find a hairdresser that hasn't seen your situation before. At least your hair isn't green.

Cindy Hurd is a stylist in Plano ####-###-####. She's very sweet. She's cut my hair (medium length) and my Mom's (shorter) and also cuts the hair of several women at our church.

It'll grow! Good luck,C.

I use to cut hair many years ago, and I can't tell you how many people have done the same thing. It's your head and your hair, and if you needed to experiment, than so what!

I still take the scissors to my own hair... but I know a great place to get hair styled. Try Salon at Eaton Court in Allen; her name is Misty. They have a website so you can check prices too. Just google Salon at Eaton Court.

Hey, C.!!

At least you can say you did your hair yourself!! I went to a local style school (no longer in business, and it was in Lake Worth about 10 years ago) and the Supervising Instructor only ADDED to the mess that the SENIOR student made of my hair!! I had never had a bad experience with them before, but that was the LAST time I went there....never could get up my nerve to go back! (A friend of mine was able to fix it, although she had to cut my hair a LOT shorter than I usually like.) The good thing about bad hair cuts is that....your hair WILL grow back! Good Luck with the new "do"!!

HI C., I think most of us have tried to be creative in more ways than one with our hair and regretted it right after we did it! I know an incredible stylist that can help you. I don't know how far he is booking out but he is so worth the wait if there is any! His name is Scott Combest and he is over at Salon Boutique at Park and the Tollway(right across the street from Shops at Willow Bend 6401 W. Plano Pkwy ). His number is ###-###-####. I have known him for 12 years and he has always done amazing work! Good luck! J.
