Does anyone know of any really good pumpkin farms? We live in Akron, Ohio and don't mind taking a car ride to somewhere fun. I want the whole experience, the pumpkins, maze, haye ride the whole thing. The place we went last year I was a little disappointed so I'm up for suggestions for this year.

What can I do next?

Walsh Farms in Doylestown is great! I live in Doyelstown and know the family that runs it. They usually have a special Sat in the begining of Oct and they have a life flight helicopter land there and all kinds of extra stuff. Their number is ###-###-####. I have been to Ramsyer's in Smithville and think they are a little over priced.

We go to Kingsway Pumpkin Farm on Andrews St. in Hartville, OH. Their web site is www.kingswaypumpkinfarm.com for info and pictures. They have all kinds of fun things hay ride, corn box, straw tunnel, farm animals, a really cute train for the kids, a little maze, all kinds of photo opportunities. Every year they have a different theme for the big corn maze. They tell me it is 10 acres! They have all kinds of stuff to decorate with...pumpkins, gourds, corn, corn stalks and hay bales and the like. Nothing scary at this place, they keep it family friendly.

There are two good ones near Hartville: Kingsway Farm and Maize Valley Farm. We go to Kingsway every year. The parking can be a little nutty, but it's fun for the kids. I've never been to Maize Valley, but I've heard it's good.

We really like Walsh Farms, in Doylestown, Ohio, a short drive from Akron. They have petting farm, small hay maze for kids, hayride, and a corn maze, there is corn kernel sand box, and you can search for your pumpkin or they have some precut. It's not a huge place, and you get plenty of attention. We always have a great time there.

L.,

We love Maize Valley in Hartville. It's a drive (we live in Wadsworth) but we always have fun. Boyert's Farm in Medina is also good, and Walsh Farm in Doylestown is good. (I'd take a pass on Graf Growers, personally - I wasn't impressed.) Check out www.maizevalley.com

Have fun! J.

we've been going to kingsway pumpkin farm in hartville, it is nice they have a peting zoo, hay ride to where the pumpkins are and you can pick your own out, but don't have to buy it if you don't want to. i haven't done the corn maze there. they also have a little play area, corn kernel box and a slide inside to play on. my kids have always like it. walsh pumpkin has been nice in the past too that one is in wooster area, but since we have been going to kingsway we haven't been back to the other.

Ramseyer Farms out past Smithville is pretty good. We go with a group of kids and some "over-grown" kids. I'm not sure who has more fun. While you're out that way... may as well stop at the Barn for lunch or dinner and let the kids feed the ducks.

Hello! I live in the Copley area and there are some near me - Graf's Growers is one. But I don't know how nice it is. Amish Country should have some nice pumpkin rides. Try to google pumpkin rides in Salt Fork area of Ohio - maybe something will pop up!

Take care and good luck!

There is a good pumpkin farm on Grill Road in Clinton, Ohio. That is just past Norton, down Rte 21. I am drawing a blank on the name but my kids had a lot of fun last year. It is only 20-30 minutes from Akron, just past Wadsworth. Also, the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic RR does a pumpkin train ride that takes you to pick pumpkins - you might check that as well.
