Anybody use and love cloth diapers? Pampers are so expensive and I hate throwing them away. I need info on great cloth diapers or systems that you Mamas love. Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

We have used GroVia and BumGenius from birth and love them both!

PS. How and what you wash with is very important with cloth. Only certain detergents can be used and it's best to always go by manufacturers directions. Any cloth diaper will fall apart, if not washed correctly!!

Thirsties covers with cotton prefolds have been an economical and easy solution for us. We have about 28 prefolds and 4 covers.

We've used "I Love Cloth" (via www.diaperkits.com), Motherease, FuzziBunz snapping pocket diaper, plus prefolds and fitted diapers with a cover.

I prefer the fitted diapers with the diaper cover, or a prefold with a cover. My husband likes the all-in-ones, and uses the fitteds as a back-up. The fitteds we have were made from the free Mama Bird pattern, some by me, some by my friend. If you have basic sewing skills (ie, you can sort of sew in a straight line), you can sew a fitted cloth diaper. Most of our covers are ProRap seconds ($4.50 each--much more reasonably priced imo!). I don't like the MotherEase covers very much--at this stage (for our skinny 22m old), they are either too loose around the legs or too tight.

I actually really like using prefolds (except on newborns with breast-fed poop).

I will also say, as my husband says, "Cloth diapers would not be do-able for us if we didn't use the flushable diaper liners." That was the only way I could get DH on board, and he has been a champ about the whole thing since we've been using them.

If you're not sure what you want, you might try one of the starter packages that have a couple of each kind (they usually have an AIO, a pocket, a couple of different fitteds and some prefolds, plus usually 2 kinds of covers. It's a good way to try out a variety of options.

You could also try posting on Craigslist or freecycle--that might turn up some inexpensive (or free!) options to try out.

I have a blog you can go look at and it's about diapering my large baby since it's not been an easy venture. But it still has a fair amount of reviews (I want to try and sample a lot of different type of diapers and blog about them) and tips, facts and links to different helpful sites.
I so far love my Envi Bums diaper cover and cloth eez prefolds from green mountian diapers. here are the websites

I use the Bumgenius all in ones. they are about $18 per diaper, but they have been worth every penny. Our daughter is 17 months old and the diapers look brand new. They wash very nice, you do have to stuff the inserts though, and you have to wash diapers every other day. I know there are a lot of good cloth diapers out there- We love the bumgenius. www.cottonbabies.com

Using Bumgenius on my second child. Just discovered Rumparooze --expensive, but oh my! I've tried lots of different diapers over the last 2.5 years, and those are amazing.

Most cloth diapering websites will let you do a trial pack. Different diapers fit different kids differently, so you might want to start there.

I LOVE cloth diapers. I love softbums. They are adjustable from the inside (which no other diaper has) and they are so slim. Although I have boughten Bum Genius 2 times (for each child) I will never buy them again. The first time they became unwaterproof after a year which Bum Genius informed me that I cared for the diapers wrong. The second time the elastic in all the legs wore out so much they started leaking again. I never dried my diapers. I would never get those diapers again. If you look into it there are lots of companies that will let you try an assortment of cloth diapers for a trial period to see which ones you like.

We use BumGenius as well and I LOVE THEM. If you are new to cloth diapers you should try a "trial" program first to see if you like them and which ones you like. I did this and it was great!!

I LOVE Motherease diapers (http://www.mother-ease.com/), especially the Sandy's diapers. They are thick and absorbent and so soft! I'll confess I have never tried the Motherease covers - I just use Bummis covers (you can buy them off amazon.com - and the cloth diapers too, if you desire), but I imagine Motherease covers a good, too. I also just discovered Little Lions because my son has a very long torso and none of the standard diapers had a high enough rise. These diapers are great for tall kiddos, really absorbent, and relatively inexpensive, too, if you don't mind velcro over snaps (I don't). Other brands I really recommend are FuzziBunz, which are all-in-ones. If you really need to save money, though, go with simple prefolds and covers. They aren't as nifty and take a little more effort at first, but they are by far the least expensive option. Good luck.

For every mama who cloth diapers, you will get a different answer. Check out my answers, I've answered this question a number of times.

Here are some links to get you started and check out Craigslist for great deals on used dipes! They are usualy slightly used or not at all. Lots of mamas start to cloth diaper and don't end up doing it.

This link is great...scroll down for lots of info on types of diapers, how to wash, etc.

Good luck! I love my cloth dipes! I'm an addict, I will admit.
