Gluten Allergies

I am searching for other moms that have young children with the gluten allergy in the Federal Way area. I would love to start a group up. Cooking is quit challenging for me and any guidance is always welcome.

What can I do next?

Hi,
I have a good friend with sciliac disease (gluten allergies). There is a store in Federal Way called Marlene's. They have a good selection of gluten free food. They also have a newsletter that I noticed offered gluten free cooking classes and there is a support group that meets. There is also a Marlene's in Tacoma on 38th St (by the Tacoma Mall). Good Luck :)

I'm in Bonney Lake, but that's not too far from you. My youngest two have diagnosed wheat allergies, the littlest has reacted badly to barley malt and we've been told to simply assume gluten/possible celiac is an issue, so they're gluten free. We've got a myriad of other allergies as well - and just redid testing.. it'll take a couple more weeks before we get the results back from that, but it'll be nice to know what we're dealing with *now* - last allergy testing was almost 2 years ago.

I've got 3 kids.. a 6 1/2 year old girl who is in 1st grade, a 5 year old boy and a 2 1/2 year old girl.

I myself have a gluten allergy. I have two children 7 & 12 I cook for all of us gluten free.

Trader Joes, QFC, Minklers green earth & Marlenes all are great, they have alot of Gluten free things you can buy.

We have pasta & pizza, all sorts of things.

I do not have a gluten allergy, but had a heart condition. I found Fred Meyers has a gluten free section in their bulk food department. Found this out looking for low calorie, low fat things to try. Especially sweets! They have an item call "ooey goodey chocolatey chewy brownie mix" by The Cravings Place. They are gluten, wheat, nut, egg, dairy and bean free--and good. Hope you find it helpful.
