Looking for a place for my friends and I to go between Washington and Oregon. There are 4 of us that are good friends from High School and looking for a good place to go to in June. We all like the water, scrapbooking, and quiet places just to talk and catch up. Does anyone know of a nice place not real expensive (or a vacation home). Two of us would be traveling from Washington and two from Oregon so we want a middle point for all of us.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone, we chose a rental place in longbeach, WA. The middle point for all of us. It seems like a neat place and I will let everyone know how it is.

So many places....I stayed at this cheap motel on the oregon coast. The Nordic I believe it was called. It had a pool and was right on the beach with all rooms having a view. The oregon coast is great. It was about $100 per night. Anywhere on either the Oregon or Washington coast.
Vashon Island is great too. There isn't a lot in southern Washington. Portland is nice. McMenamins in Troutdale or any of their hotels are real unique.

Seabrook is a wonderful beach community just north of Ocean Shores. I have never been there but a good friend of mine took her kids there and somebody that I work with goes there at least once a month with her daughter. The community is made up of beautiful "pottery barn" decorated beach cottages. Check it out at www.seabrook.wa.com I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Good luck and have fun!

Hi F.,

I went on a business trip a couple of years ago to a place called McMenamins in Troutdale, OR (spelling?) It is a large property with a refurbished and very eclectic building that used to be a poor house and then a retirement home. It has a small golf course, several intimate bars and restaurants, a winery etc. very cool. Troutdale is just on the Oregon side of the Columbia River and just East of Portland. You should look it up online, I'm trying to plan another trip with friends there myself.

The Alpine Chalets in Oregon are really nice. They are in Otter Rock, just north of Newport. They have a website you can check it out...www.oregonalpinechalets.com. I like it there a lot. The homes are fully stocked with dishes and appliances. They are on their own beach so no public access.

Ocean Shores is always a nice place to visit in June everything is in full bloom. there's a lot to see if you are driving or going by train. Ocean Shores has many places to stay that are not too expensive. What we always have done, my high school gal pals and myself, is get a suite and share the expenses four ways. And of course there's alaways the Columbia River where you can find little old out of the way roadside motels again that's if you are driving. Have Fun! D.

We stay at a small motel in Port Orford called The Castaways. It's cheaper than the popular spots of Cannon and Gold Beach, but has beautiful ocean views high on a bluff over the coast. There's easy access to the water, a few cafes, a wonderful gallery and antique shop. Check it out.

OMG..I have the place for you!!! Cannon Beach,OR. Me and my family rented a beach house last summer. The house was right on the beach and right in town. It had a wonderful patio with a bar-b-q. It was perfect!!! The property was managed by a company called "The Waves" Check it out on line. Great fun and it also would not be too expensive...especially if you split it 4 ways. Good Luck and have a great time!!!

I really enjoyed Port Orford. There is a beautiful hike along the ocean cliffs. I didn't like the motel, so next time will try a different one. I think the local I met said the Crescent or something like that. There is a petting zoo to the north that was neat and alot of fun, I think in Bandon. Also in Bandon is shops on the boardwalk kinda area. Lake Bradley is also in the area. Have fun wherever you go.
