My husband and I have a handsome little boy who's 2 1/2. We've been trying to concieve for about 3 months now w/o any success. With our first, all my husband had to do was pass me in the bedroom and we were pregnant! We're starting to get a little worried something may be wrong (but the doctor says not to worry until we've been trying for a year) and I've had a normal pre-conception check-up. Has anyone else out there had problems getting pregnant again? I'd be grateful for any advice, personal experience, and such! Thank you in advance!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for the great advice and personal stories! It's nice to know that other women have been in the same boat we're in! Well, we're going to have fun "practicing" making a baby and cross our fingers! I'll let everyone know when we get pregnant! Good luck to those that responded and are also trying to get PG :o)

I also had that same problem. After giving birth to my son we wanted to wait awhile before we tried again. When he was 3 we started trying, he is now 6 and I am finally pregnant with our second child. At first I had what is called Polycycstic Ovarian Syndrome, which is just basically I had cysts in my ovaries which was causing me not to have a period. The doctor gave me some medication for it and that was fixed but still no pregnancy. So he put me on fertility medication. That didn't work either. My husband and I went through a VERY rough patch in our marriage and I ended up losing 25 pounds and low and behold 2 months later I was pregnant. The doctor had always told me that if I lost a little weight that might help and it did. I'm not sure, and being a woman myself I wouldn't even dream of asking, but I know in my case after I had my first child I packed on quite a few pounds. Hope that helpped some.

I too had the same problem. It took my husband and I 5 months to conceive our second (now I am 21 weeks pregnant!) And I was on the pill the first time I got pregnant! So we started to worry but just as we said we would try once more before going to the doctor we were pregnant! And also let me warn you. The second pregnancy is NOTHING like the first. I got this great book called "So your pregnant, AGAIN" And I found it to be very useful. So don't worry, it will happen.

I am the same age as you. We have a little girl she is 4 now that we got preggo with while on ortho tri-cyclen. When we decided to have another child after not being on bc for 3 years I was really upset that we didn't get preggo the first few months. It took us 6 months before we got preggo the second time around the first time we weren't trying at all and got preggo. If your cycle is pretty normal you can guesstimate when you are ovulating and that will help. Above all have fun, stress doesn't make it any easier to get preggo.

What birth control have you been using? I say this b/c I use the Depo Provera shot and it can take up to a year after you stop the shot to get pregnant. Sorry I can't be more help. Just keep your hopes up and remember the getting pregnant part is the most fun:)lol

Hi J.,
Go get yourself this book today: Taking Charge of Your Fertility : The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health by Toni Weschler. Don't just borrow it from the library - go out and buy it. It will be the best resource for you.
I am allergic to almost all forms of birth control (the pill, latex, and spermicides.) I used this book successfully for 7 years to keep from getting pregnant when we didn't want to. Then, when we decided to try to get pregnant, I used the methods in this book again, & we got pregnant in 5 months. The second time, we also got pregnant in 5 months. 5 months was actually a very short time for us, considering I was 36 & 39 years old and I only saw my husband for 2 days each week (he worked out of town.)
I can't say enough good things about this book!!!! Read it from cover to cover & keep it by your bedside. Follow the directions she gives & be consistent with it.
Good luck to you!

I went on birth control for a month, then I skipped a month and went back on it. I didn't think I could get pregnant, so I wasn't very good at taking it regularly; I got pregnant and the doctor said it was because I went up and down with the pill.

We are in the same boat!! My daughter will be 3 next month and we have been trying for #2 since the beginning of April. It took me 10 months to get pregnant with my daughter. My best friend thinks it's so weird that we have to "try". Her first wasn't planned and she was on BC for the second. So she has no problems! Not all of us are that lucky! It can be frustrating! We have tried all sorts of things to get pregnant this time. Even standing on my head!! hahaha Guess it just happens when it happens! Good luck to you!
