My company has a non profit org that we ASSIST every year and I need to come up with ideas we can use to raise money for them. We have in the past raffled off zoo memberships, tanning packages, 50/50 raffles...bake sales, baskets raffles ...any new ideas out there? They can’t be too complicated or time consuming since this is a side thing my work does and I still have my FT workload in addition. I was thinking bake sale (again), raffle off a couple gift cards....

Oh I like the thrift sale idea...I have NEW candles piling up everywhere...

We also do a contribution drive where the employees can donate directly.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I think we have decided to do a raffle for a couple gift cards to local resturants, a thrift sale, bake sale, and a root beer floot day. I think that will bring in some cash for our chairity event.

Thanks for all the great ideas!!!

Morning tea - get a few people to do a bit of baking, and invite everyone along for morning tea and to make a donation. One of the easiest ways i've raised money at work is having a box of chocolate candies for sale. They always go like hot cakes!

What does your company do with their soda cans? Can you collect them and take them to recycling?

What about a company thrift sale on a Saturday?

Bless you for doing this! My two easy breezy favorites were raffling a parking space for a month right near the entrance and during the contribution drive having a chief executive cut his tie shorter as the drive reaches towards the goal. I also had an executive once offer to raffle a chef-cooked meal to raffle.

What size company-how many employees?

Do you have a dress down day? We each pay $1 per week to dress down on Friday's, at the end of the year we have $1,500 to give to charity.

How about a happy hour after work? You can have it at a local restaurant/pub. Charge a flat rate, serve appetizers and beer and wine.

Sell candy bars. Buy in bulk, set up a box and a jar for $1 donations. It's not a lot of money, but overtime it'll add up.

Can you just ask for monetary donations point blank?
Then you get from point A to point B... directly. Without having to have "sales" and events, for it.

You can sell things directly to your co-workers. Buy $30 worth of pizza and charge everybody $2 a slice. Buy candy in bulk at Sams and sell that a piece at a time. Put donation jars everywhere.
We have the option of purchasing casual days. For $2 we can wear jeans.
Have t shirts made and sell them.

We've done "silent" auctions. We ask that each department choose a theme (gift basket, sporting events, restaurant, exercise, movies etc) and then the items are all put out during lunch. Anyone interested in "bidding" on the item lists their name & their dollar amount. Someone else interested in the item lists their price out-bidding the former person. It gets really fun as people return to add to the dollar amount. Depending on the item...more expensive items such as sporting event or concert tickets...list a minimum $ amount required. It has gotten quite competitive as different departments sort of compete to come up with original themes that maybe haven't been used before...actually quite fun & raises quite a bit of money without alot of work.

My company has a fund raising program. You basically put the info on your website and send out some emails the rest is handled for you. The best part is the products are not marked up like fund raising companies do. The pricing is the same as anyone would pay. The products are also things people use anyway so they are not buying things they really don't want.
Contact me if you are interested.

I am an independent consultant for Scentsy and we do no hassle fundraisers. It would be as easy as I could send you some catalogs and set you up on my website and your company would get a portion of all the sales. Everything can be handled online if you wish. Scentsy is very high quality, affordable wickless candles. Contact me if you would like more information.

I like the causal day idea. We did that once. Had to pay a few dollars to wear jeans. I think pretty much every one did it!

Our church had a silent auction and regular auction. We offered services, like mowing lawns for a few weeks, painting a room, free teeth whitening (like if spouses of employees can offer a service). then we had tables set up where people brought their gently used stuff, boots, tvs, lamps, potted plants, homemade cookies... and people silent auctioned them.

Are there any businesses around that would donate things for an auction?

We are having a fundraiser this weekend for my 7 month old nephew who has cancer. What we got for free from businesses to auction off: rounds of golf, jewelry, mani/pedi at a spa, all sorts of gift baskets from local restaurants and stores, goodies from vendors, etc.

I would make a flier if I were you and go around to local businesses, restaurants, bars, golf courses, etc. You will be surprised at what you will get!
