I have a new friend who's 27 years old and seems to be going through this and has no idea what to do. Since she and I are the same age I have no clue how to help her. She has an appointment with a doc off base, her Dh called and told her symptoms to her doc and said that is what she thinks it is but her appointment isnt for another few weeks and she is like me and hates to go to the doc knowing nothing about what is happening. ANy one have any books or links that may help? Suggesstions that others around her can do to help?

What can I do next?

Vitex (AKA Chastetree Berry) is the best female hormonal balancer. It remedies a host of female problems including early menopause (which is commonly misdiagnosed). It's available at health food stores and may take 1-3 months until it starts taking hold.

Good luck!

27 WOW...THAT'S EARILY!
IS SHE SKIPPING PERIODS?
I ALREADY WENT THROUGH IT AND IT'S NO JOKE!
HOT FLASHES AND MOOD SWINGS....SUCKS
I DON'T THINK THAT IS WHAT IS HAPPENING TO HER THOUGH.
HAVE THEM CHECK FOR OTHER THINGS..BLOOD WORK WILL TELL ALL.
I GOT SO BAD THAT MY HUSBAND TOOK ME TO THE DOCTOR (ER) AND THEY TOOK ONE LOOK AT ME AND TOLD ME THAT I HAD MENOPAUSE PROBLEMS AND PUT ME ON MED'S AND I WAS FINE.
I ONLY TOOK THEN MED. FOR 2 WEEKS THEN I GOT OFF OF THEM AND TRIED HERBS.
THEN I JUST GAVE IT TO GOD AND IT WENT AWAY.
I'M NOT A PILL PERSON, I CAN'T REMEMBER TO TAKE ONE EVERYDAY LET ALONE THREE A DAY!
WELL GOOD LUCK TO YOUR FRIEND AND DON'T LET THEM JUST TEST HER FOR THAT ONE THING. IT'S MORE THAN LIKELY SOMETHING ELSE.
BUT WOMEN CAN GO THROUGH IT AT THAT AGE.

A friend of mine thought she was going through menopause early too. She had just had twins and didn't "start" for 9 months! Finally she didn, and everything is fine now. Has your friend just had a baby?

Very unlikely that this is the case. I would need to know her signs and symptoms as well as her last menses.

Hi! I'm 38 and went into surgical menopause about 4 years ago. I had to have a total abdominal hysterectomy, so I completely understand what she's going through. I found a web site called www.hystersisters.com and it really saved my life. It doesn't cost anything to join and has tons of information along with message boards that are specific to the stages you go through. It is a hysterectomy web site, but has so much information on it that it's great for anyone going through menopause. If you or your friend would like to contact me directly, feel free to do so, my email is in my profile. Tell her to hang on, it will get better!

B. - here is a web site to go to www.kokorohealth.com - there is a book on there - I read about pre-menopause that is great info and the balance cream they sell is natural stuff - and I've been taking it for a couple of years now - helps out tremendously! Blessings - D.

Hi B.,
There is a test she can take and I drink a tea called "Women's Liberty" that has wild yam root in it that helps me with some of the not so fun stuff. I don't like the idea of fake hormones myself, at her age, s he would be on them for so long..
Sorry to hear about your back. At least with her husband in the AF you get the care you need. Julie

When I found out I was pregnant with my first child my sister in law thought she was pregnant too but discovered that she was going through early menopause. It was a very difficult time, she felt cheated that she wouldnt be able to have any more children and was afraid she would turn into an "old woman" at such an early age (she had just turned 30) but we have discovered early menopause is not that uncommon. Your friends doctor will be able to verify that she is going through early menopause and can prescribe hormones to help her. My sister in law experienced terrible mood swings at times and would also feel fatigued. The hormones made her feel "normal" again. I would just suggest you are there for her if she needs someone to talk to as this can be a very emotional time for her.
