Feeding Baby Food

Hey- how does everyone warm the baby food when you take it out of the refridgerator? Or do you just give to the baby cold? I mean, when they didn't finish the whole jar or container and you have to stick the leftover in the fridge. Wouldn't microwave possibly get it too hot? Just wondering. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

We always fed it to him cold, and he never had any problems. We also gave him his bottle cold, and soon he came to prefer it that way!

I have a three old little girl and what I did with the baby food is put a little in a bowl and warm it in the microwave for 10 second increments untill it was just right. That way you aren't reheating the same food.

I always gave it to my kids cold. I wouldn't microwave anything that is in plastic. You could just run the container under hot water to get it slightly warm.

I have a day/night bottle warmer that also warms baby food through steaming it to a certain degree. It comes with handy measurement viles so you know how much water to put in to heat the food. Either way thats an option and if you microwave it I would suggest very small time intervals till you find something that makes the food warm and stir it a lot after you warm it to prevent hot spots. Also, I usually just through the left overs in the fridge again or I will portion out a certain amount of food into his little bowl and warm that instead of the whole amount.

I think it's okay to warm it up in the microwave. I put the jar in the microwave for ten seconds just to take the chill off of it. I have a high powered microwave so it does not take long to get food hot so it just depends on your microwave. Start off with a few seconds stir the food to even the heat, test it and go from there.

Hello,It is recommended not to feed from the jar and put it back in fridge for later, dish out what you'll think baby will eat then cover the jar put the jar into the fridge. This causes cross contamination, you see we have germs in our mouths and it's not good for baby, saliva get's on spoon back and forth into mouth and jar GROSS.You can give baby fruit cold or room temp. we like it that way, with veggies and meals I usually put in hot water if that doesn't work put in microwave for only 5 sec or so make sure it is stirred and not to hot just like warmer than room temp. Good Luck

I didn't warm up baby food - figured if I never did it she wouldn't know the difference. She always ate things cold and I had no problems while she was eating baby food. As I started feeding her more adult food (she's 2 now), her mouth was really sensitive to heat. If the food was just a little warm she would spit it out and say it was 'hot.' That lasted a couple of months and now everything is fine. For me, it was worth all the time saved not warming things up for many months.... but there was the little drawback I wanted you to be aware of.

Oh - and I'd read NOT to warm things up in the microwave. I guess the microwave doesn't heat things evenly so you could test one bite and it feels fine but another bite might scald them. My friend that did warm up the food would put the jar hot water.

I have never reheated baby food. My son is fine with his food being cold, but unfortunately not all babies like cold food. I would put a little in a bowl and heat it for 10 sec or so at a time until it's at the desired temperature. But I do believe I have seen instructions on most jars that you can reheat it in the jar itself.

I don't think that it is recommended to microwave baby food because it can heat unevenly. Try putting the jar, lid on tight, in a bowl of hot water for a bit. It probably won't make it warm but it will take the chill off.

I used the microwave to reheat my daughters food. You just have to make sure that you stir it well and make sure that there are no hot pockets in it. That is what I did and never had a problem. If you warm it up and they don't eat it all them I would throw it out and not reheat for a 2nd time.

I had a little steamer that I believe was made by Parent's Choice (I gave it away over a year ago and can't remember if that's the brand for sure). I bought it at Target. It was made specifically to warm up bottles and baby food jars. It took less than 5 minutes and was really a handy little gadget. I would suspect they carry the same type of thing at WalMart or Toys R Us. I used it with my last 2 babies and wished I had known about it for my 1st. I can find out more specific info. if you need me to. Just email me privately at ____@____.com and put baby food warmer in the subject line. Hope this helps!
