Family Vacation to North Myrtle Beach

The family will be traveling to North Myrtle beach for a vacation in a couple weeks, I have a 7 (almost 8) and a 2 yro. There will also be a 1 yro and a 6 yro (all boys), for people in the area, what family oriented activities do you recommend other than the beach and pool?
Are there any day trips worth going in the area? I just want to figure out what additional activities (museums, parks and such) we can do in addition to the beach. I know I can search the internet, but I rather ask people that live there or that have done it before for their experience.
Thank you!!!

What can I do next?

We loved Boardwalk on the Beach and the Ripley's aquarium near there. LOTS of fun...the Boardwalk has amusements, games, fish feeding (you will be SO disgusted if you feed these fish, but seriously, DO IT!!!) and other stuff for the children and tons of fun shopping for the adults.

Alligator Adventure at Barefoot Landing is pretty cool. (Two birds...O. stone!)

Oh--right--how could I forget--definitely see Ripley's Aquarium at Broadway on the Beach!

Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum is wonderful. I believe they have a touch-pool, if they are still doing that...

The Pirate Adventure is sooo much fun! We took the kids there last year. It's a dinner theater type place. It's a little pricey, but so worth it as the big trip out on vacation!

I know it sounds ridiculous since you have the beach and pool, but we went to Wild Waves while we were there last year and it was awesome. We went on a midweek afternoon and the park was EMPTY. There were no lines whatsoever. We all had a blast and are planning on doing it again this year... I mean when do you ever get to go to a waterpark and there are NO lines.
Other than that Barefoot Landing and the Boardwalk make for fun entertainment in the evening when it get's a bit cooler and there are of course a million put-put places, which we are going to try this year.
