Hello Ladies...
So my 3 year old woke up this morning with a little crusty boogers on her eyes... not too many,(i've heard that sometimes kids cant even open their eyes, this is not the case at all... Just a few on each under lid) ... i've noticed she started coughin (AGAIN) yesterday, but i'm not sure how to take the 'eye crusties'... I'm gonna call the doctor at 9, but thats a few hours from now, so decided to ask the 'experts'... What is that?? is it serious?? should i not send her to school??

Really? Pediatrician for eye boogers? Unless her eye is swollen, red, or painful, its just dried tears. Am I the only one thinking its a bit ridiculous?
allergies can lead to conjunctivitis....definitely contact the dr.

When she awakens with the crusties that are not just in the corner of her eyes, you should gently remove them with a warm, wet cloth. Try not to allow her to rub her eyes as this can scratch the conjuctiva.
It's likely that she has mild conjuctivitis. It's a little infection that is easily treated. Keep her eye area very clean and put warm compresses on her eyes three times a day, and, if she'll tolerate it, rinse her eyes with warm normal saline (you can find this in the eyecare section of your local drugstore...it's in a big bottle and is NOT Visine). The compresses should be very warm and on the eyes for 5-10 minutes at a time.
If it's conjuctivitis, it will get progressively better within three days...if it's viral "pink eye" which is not as common, it will get get worse despite your care and you'll notice that the affected eyes get very red. If it worsens, take her in to the doc for a prescription medicine. You'll do exactly the same thing as above, plus using the prescription drops (get the drops NOT the gel!). If you need advice on putting drops in your childs' eyes, let me know...
Could be allergies or the beginning of a cold. If she doesn't have a fever I wouldn't worry unless it becomes worse or goes on for a while. Wipe her eyes from the outside corner in toward the nose with a cotton ball wet with warm water. I do this a couple times in each eye (with a fresh cotton ball for each wipe) to clear out any allergens that may be lurking. Good luck!
Is it more than the "sand man" leaves? If so you can be consirned but usually small amounts ( a few grain like crusty eye boogers ) is perfectly normal. I get them too.
might be pink eye. If she touches her eyes please wash her hands it could get into the other eye or you can get it too.
There may have just been something in the air that her eyes couldn't handle. Generally debris is swept into the nose as nose buggers. If there is too much there is crust in the eyes. My allergies will cause what looks like pink eye, crusty and irritated.
Otherwise you need to see what her eyes look like because it could be the start of pink eye and that you don't want to spread.
When my kids wake up and they have the "crusties", I have to call the pediatrician and get them in because it's an early sign that they are getting an ear infection. This may not be the case with your daughter but this is always a tell-tale sign that my kids have one.

It's probably just mild allergies. I wake up like that on many a morning.
I get recurring eye infections where it'll crust up and glue my eyelashes together, they get a little itchy but no redness, just a lot of oozy gunk going on. They gave me some eye drops and they work awesome, kinda sounds like what i get. Conjunctivitis I believe they call it.. some kind of infection of the tear duct. Good luck.
