I am wanting to hear from other moms who have had 4 c-sections. I don't seem to hear about anyone having 4 so I am feeling nervous and would love to hear that everything will be fine. Is anyone else expecting to have a 4th c-section? My OB isn't worried about it but it would be comforting to know Iam not alone.

I had four in four years! Boy, Girl, Boy, Boy! My doctor was ready to keep going but I decided four was our number. I feel blessed every day and would do it all over again if I had too. You haven't been brought this far to be dropped on your bottom! Hang in there and get some positive thoughts flowing through your brain. There is a secret club for mothers of four or more so Welcome! Enjoy!

I had five c-sections in the 60's,early 70's when it was unheard of. I had no problems at all. If you are in good health and taking care during this pregnancy you should not have any problems. I had an amazing OB and had the utmost trust in him. I hope you do also. You are definitely NOT alone. Enjoy your precious addition and relax as best you can with four babies. It is important that you take care of yourself. They need you.

Our five have given us nine precious grandchildren and a great-grandchild. You have a wonderful life to look forward to c-section or not.

J. N is our #3 child. We are her very proud parents.

Dear R.,
I don't really have a concrete answer for you, but I am wondering why you think you need a C section? Just because you were sectioned previously is not enough reason to have the procedure again.
Don't know where you are located, I'm in Bakersfield, and would be delighted to offer you HypnoBirthing which would be enormusly beneficial for you and your baby, regardless of what type of birthing you have. Please look HypnoBirthing up on the net to learn more. You can also find a provider on the HypnoBirthing web site.
All my best, S.

My cousin's wife had 4 in 4 years and is just fine. Her 2nd didn't go well, she bled a lot, but they fixed her all up. Trust your Dr. and congrats on the new baby!!

Hi R., I have had for c-sections and all my children are happy and healthy. I have a 18, 16, 13 and 6. The only thing that I found more challenging on the 4th one as to the first 3 was that building the muscle back in the tummy is a little harder but with some work it can be done. Good luck to you and I know that all will be fine. :)

My sister-in-law had all four of her kids via c-section with absolutely no problems. I actually think she recovered from the fourth faster than all the others. I know the first one was hardest on her. They are done now, but not because of the c-sections, just because their house isn't big enough for a 5th child. I would try not to stress over it since it is out of your control now anyways. Good luck and congrats.

R.,
Well I have not had 4 but I have had 3.....I can only say that each one got easier. The first one was terrible, but they seemed to get easier after that. I don't know if that was my age or what exactly.
Good Luck.....I'm sure the doctor knows what he/she is doing....

I haven't done it myself, but I am the oldest of 5 kids. Out of those 5, I was the only one who was natural. So my mom had 4 c-sections, and never had any problems. Just relax and don't worry about it!

I had 4 C-Sections in 6 years and my 4th was the best! If it is your last and you have a nice doctor he could even tie in a tummy tuck to the surgery;). And no I didn't do that. I strongly disagree with the person who said you don't necessarily need a c-section. After 2 c-sections your chance of your uterus rupturing sky rockets. I have a few friends that have had a v-bac and it has been made clear to them that it is only a risk doctors are willing to take after only 1 c-section (if then). Sit back relax and enjoy setting an appointment to have the baby;).

R.,

My cousin and 2 friends have both had 5. Two of them were told to stop after the 5th, but they did not have any complications on any of them.

I'll second the response to the comment from Stella about whether or not you really need a c-section.

I tried to find some way to have a VBAC after my first, and I found that there were very few options, and none at all for a breech baby (both of mine were breech.)

I seem to remember hearing from almost everyone I talked to (hospitals, birthing centers, home birth caregivers, and other organizations) that these days, after two c-sections a VBAC is no longer an option. I remember that information so clearly because I knew that if we decided to have a third, all the stress of whether or not I'd be able to have a VBAC would be gone.

Since you didn't even suggest that you are interested in a VBAC (or even whether its an option for you), Stella's question seems unhelpful since she provided no specific information about a caregiver who might be willing to help you have a VBAC even if that would be an option in your specific case.

I carefully weighed my options before I had my first c-section -- I had a breech baby, so I did have the time to evaluate the options -- so I'm always bothered by people who suggest that women who have c-sections just haven't looked at their options.

I noticed you've received several comments about VBAC. After 2 c/s's, VBAC is not recommended, and I'm sure that you know this already. Just FYI, after only one c/s, the risk of uterine rupture in a VBAC is under 1%. I know this wasn't even what your question was about, but here's a link that goes into depth about VBACs, in case you wanted more info (or peace of mind that you're doing the right thing LOL): http://www.childbirthconnection.org/article.asp?ClickedLi...
Also to the left (on this page) is a section on c-sections and other great stuff about birthing.

In response to your question, my mother-in-law has had 4 live births, all of them c/s, and she is as lively now as she was yrs ago. And all the children turned out wonderfully :) It is recommended that women do not have more c/s's than 5, so you should be just fine! I'm sure your Dr is great and knows what he's doing :) I have only had one c/s, my first baby, and am planning a VBAC for the next...we'll see. But I know your upcoming pain, and I hope everything goes great other than that!! Happy and healthy delivery and baby :)

I myself did not have c-sections, but both my sister in laws had four and one of my good friends had four c-sections. They all went well, they have recovered beautifully. My one sister in law actually liked having the c-sectioned because she could plan her schedule around the birth. You are definately not alone. Good luck and congradulations!
