I'm taking a different spin here on what you are looking at doing. I've been considering a career in allied health. So, I contacted U of M Medical Center and asked them where I would go to learn to be an Ultrasound Technician. They told me what schools programs they accept. If there is a particular field you are interested in, contact an employer that you may be interested in working for and ask them where their graduates come from.

It's just my opinion buy I have been where you are. I went to several schools gave a certificate only and not an actual degree. One was ross business institute. You probably don't know it but it was big in the late 1980's and early 90's. Sort of how Everest is today.

I don't think it depends on the school so much as it does your individual drive and ambition to find a job. It's all about experience, the impression you make on the interview and the biggest factor of all is how you know that gets you the job.

I suppose this school has a department that offers job leads upon gradutation? But in the end its up to you. Research the field in which you are interested and see if there is a demand. Find out what type of experience the postion requires and what skills are needed. Then see if Everest offers the courses that you need to get the job.

I would resarch the school carefully. I'm not sure about these schools. They provide short training and education, but can you get a job afterwards. Like one person said, I'd call companies in the field you're interested in and ask about how they view Everest's programs. I'm looking to get more education and some schools, like Ross Education, don't seem to have good track records for job placement. I visited Ross about Medical billing, but would have cost $12-13,000 for a six month program for a job that pays $12 or $13 an hour. Find out about accredidation, some can be quite good and an alternative to community college. That's my thoughts, good luck and hope you find the right school!

DO NOT GO THERE! I graduated from there last April after completing a 160 hr clinical externship. I went thru the medical asst program there. My teacher was awesome, but after 1 year I am still without a job.

They also do not transfer credits to a college (schoolcraft, EMU) so I would just look into attending school thru a community college.

First thing to the woman who went there last year for the Medical Assisting program and is still unemployed...are you still actively working with career services? They are there for anyone who has graduated the program and they work with you for life once you are an alumni. I encourage you to call them so they can take a look at your resume and help you set up for interviews.

A school like Everest is perfect for someone who does not want or does not have the time to spend 2 or more years in school. Not everyone is cut out for a traditional school where you sit in a lecture room with 100+ other students and never meet their teacher face to face. Everest is a very hands on school that has small class sizes. My suggestion for you is to call your closest Everest and just take a tour. It is the best way for you to see whether or not it might be a good fit for you.

The students that tend to bad mouth their experience there are the ones that did not take it seriously (had poor attendence, grades, attitude...). Of course the school cannot promise employment, but they are accredited and they must meet specific placement standards (70% to be exact) and graduation standards. it depends on what you want to pursue. are you looking for certifications? do you want to earn/finish a degree? are you interested in IT, healthcare, clinical experience? in general, everest has a terrible reputation. i know their commercials are appealing but in my research i found that their programs are weak and the placement services are worthless. the corporation has changed names several times in the past few years and that always makes me suspicious.

my advice...do your research thoroughly into all such programs. if training is what you want, i would recommend a more academic training environment, like a community college or a place like Lawrence tech or schoolcraft. they both have great reputations.

places like everest are in business to make a profit by any means necessary and tend to make promises they don't keep. colleges are in business not only to make a profit but also to educate and tend to have better systems and processes in place.
