Evanston Middle Schools

I am from Evanston, went to school there , graduated high school there. All of my family did too. I have a few cousins who just recently graduated High School. I LOVE Evanston. The experience I had growing up with such diversity and quality has made a big difference in my life. Being in such a diverse environment (race, culture, and socioeconomic status) has shaped my world view in a positive way, and you will not get that experience in any other north shore suburb. If we could, we would move there now. All of the schools are pretty equal. Your son will be fine wherever he goes. There are 3 middle schools- Haven, Nichols, Chute... If there is another it's escaping me. If I had to put them in order I would say Nichols, Haven, then Chute. The High School is amazing and unifying. I had a great H.S. Experience along with all my cousins. Lots of opportunities and things to do. Hope this helps!

also check out Wilmette, which is where we live. Your tax dollars will go further as the schools are phenomenal(Elementary schools: Romona, Mckenzie, Central and Harper) Middle School: Highcrest ,Junior High: Wilmette Junior High: High School: New Trier) I have one at Mckenzie and one in a GREAT prek and one little guy at home. I can't say enough good things about Wilmette. If you stay close enough to the Evanston Border(which we have done) you can still get a bit more Evanston vibe. We moved here from the city 3 years ago, live in an old, modest house. Not cheap, but it can be done w/o having North Shore budget if you play our cards right. I grew up in Evanston and went to Haven. I'm sure there have been a lot of changes since then, but I didn't love it. A lot of that had to do with middle school being a challenging time, peer-wise. But I did get a good education there. And Evanston Twp. High School was a great experience. My entire family went there. I got a high quality education in a diverse environment. Lots of opportunities to pursue passions in the arts, sports, etc. The size was intimidating at first, but I took a few classes in the summer before high school to adjust. Anyway, good luck and enjoy!
