Hi Mamas,

I am thinking about ordering something off of the website Etsy. Has anyone used this site before? Did you like it? Did your items come on time and in good shape? Also how do you pick the sizes that you want to order? I chose an item that I wanted and added it to my cart, but it didn't say what size and there was no where to input that info. Anything else that you can think about using this website. Thanks in advance for your help!

What can I do next?

You can email the artist/craftsperson with information or questions. I have bought baby and toddler legwarmers, dresses and such. Have never had a problem. I have even asked one person if she could do custom work. She did. It all went well and have even thought about making things to sell on the sight if I ever get some time =)

Love it! Look at the seller's rating on the page for their "store." I've gotten great jewelry there!

I use etsy to buy and sell. The site is like a big warehouse which lists several-like hundreds- of smaller shops. The individual shop will decide your experience more then anything else.
Look at the ratings of the shop. Convo seller with any questions before buying. Much easier then sorting out a bad purchase for BOTH sides.
I sell hats and hairbands and clips. Here is a link to my shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/corascorner

I ordered a customized bed for a my twinn doll. It frankly looked great, but the legs were obviously not going to stay on with one plain screw so I asked to return it. The owner asked me to return it and make another one using better leg attachments, plus adding some free things. In spite of a child standing on it(80 pounds), it is like new 3 years later. And etsy would have refunded the money at that time, sort of like paypal. I would order again.

I LOVE etsy!! I have bought some stuff there a few times. I'm new to it, but so far I love it! I have only had 1 problem with someone on there and it was because she wouldn't reply to my messages and it took her over a month for her to send it (even though it said it was in stock). Just make sure you check out their feedback before buying anything. I learned the hard way with the 1 person. But, everyone else I have ordered from has been great!

I have used it a few times and was very happy with my purchases and the buying experience. I would just send a note to the seller and ask about how to specify size/color/etc. I think it is a great site that allows artisans to get their products to a wider customer base. I have to keep myself from going there too much because I want to shop, shop, shop!

Hi KH---My daughter uses etsy extensively and absolutely LOVES it. I also like the fact that it showcases homemade in obscure products. She bought my husband a really cool set up cuff links on etsy, made from the internal watch gear/watch movement pieces. REALLY cool. As another poster stated, contact the seller for more information. I'm sure they'll be prompt with a reply. You can also check the sellers feedback for reliability.

Good luck! D.

Use it often and love it. Have purchased baby items, jewelery, and kids items off it. Most have instructions to PM (private message) them with the size you need if it's not listed already. You can PM them anyway and find out if this is something already made or made to order. Everyone is very helpful as this is their income and way of selling items without having to go to craft fairs etc if you come across someone that doesn't answer your messages then I wouldn't deal with them. And view their ratings, these are from users that have ordered from them before, similar to E-Bay, if there are a lot of negatives then I'd definitely beware.

I've used Etsy many times and love it! Everything I've ordered has worked out just fine. I'd say if you have any questions about a particular item, such as the size, you contact the seller for more details before buying.

I love etsy.com! I have bought homemade sunscreen (possibly the BEST product I have ever purchased), jewelry and insulin pump cases. I have always been very pleased with my purchases.
If you have a question about an item that you are interested in, you can chat with the seller and they can give you the details you are asking for.

Happy shopping!

I have used etsy quite a few times and love it! I have always been pleased. When you complete your order, there is a comment section where you can add sizes. Also, you can email the seller using the conversation button! Happy shopping!

I bought the cutest headbands for my girls last Christmas on Etsy. So far, only one has broken/come apart and that was mostly due to my girls' roughness with it. I also bought my mom a beautiful pair of earrings which I almost kept for myself! The quality really depends on the seller as you're not actually buying from "etsy" but from individuals who make their own stuff. I've been very happy with what I've bought and plan on using that site again this holiday season.

I've only done it once but plan on buying more. I only looked at people with reputable history and ratings to avoid scams. I had a custom order from a really nice lady and we talked back and forth through messages at least 10 times making sure I was completely satisfied with everything, package was fine and came quicker than I thought it would.

If you have questions like that always ask the seller, I was upfront with my seller and told her right away I wasn't familiar with etsy and apologized and asked her about the things I was confused with. With my custom order we talked about all the details in messages (probably where you'll specify sizes and whatever else).
