Epipens on Airplane

Hi, I have diabetes and I carry a letter from my doctor saying I need to have the needles etc with me at all times. I also carry my supplies with the pharmacy labels on them (especially the liquid insulin) and I have never even been asked once for those labels or the letter. The regulations do change all the time, but overall it's pretty easy to get through with medical stuff as long as you have the pharmacy label with the patient's name on it. Check the websites for the airlines you will be using though just to be safe. Best of luck. C.

Check with the faa website. I had to take medication and was worried about it being liquid over 3oz. I was able to take my prescription liquid medication as well as 4 baby bottles, ice packs, and a few single serve pedialyte bottles. I just had to "declare" it. That just means you have to verbally tell the screeners what it is.

There is a lot of info on the site about traveling with children and passengers with medical needs. You should be able to find the info you need.

Have fun. Disney is totally AWESOME at Christmas!! I did it a few years ago. It's ten times better than going in the summer. Not just the heat. You must see the dancing lights in Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM Studios). I would also suggest the Christmas party at Magic Kingdom if you haven't already gotten tickets. Santa at Downtown Disney's Marketplace was excellent. There's nothing like getting your kids pictures with Santa in shorts!! I'm jealous. My sister is also going in December. FYI, I looked up info on hospitals before I went. Just in case. My son is a cardiac patient and was having surgery two weeks after our vacation. Just wanted to be prepared

We just flew to Disney in Sept/Oct and my son's epipen was in my carry on bag. The first check (philly) they didn't say anything. The second check (orlando) they asked to look at it. No problems!

an epipen is considered medication. Put it in a plastic quart size bag with the medication you will take on the trip. At the check point before you board, show them the plastic bag of medications. they will let it through. If this is for diabetes they will also allow water. Go on your airline or air port website and look for their procedure for medications.

My husband carries an Epipen as well and we have flown quite often with it. He carries it in his back pocket and only one time a security person asked what it is and didn't even ask to look at it once my husband said it was an Epipen. They said they see so many that you don't even have to worry about it being a hasle. One thing we did the first time was get our pharmacy to print a label for the pen itself in case we were questioned but we went right thru security. You will be fine, have fun! A.

I took 1 2 years ago and it was ok. have it available to remove from the starage case and I took the box with the prescription label to show it matched my son. I also always carry a plan of action from our allergist that lists the epipen on it. If you also carry Benedryl as I do, just be sure to take a small size. I like the little individual spoons for carrying with me.

you shouldn't have any problem with the epipen since it is medical. I would call the airline to make sure.

You should be able to put it threw a carry on bag. Just call or check there website to just double check. Each one is differnet. My sister in law just got back form Albanya, she had to take prection meds that there where not able to get there for her brother. She did a carry on and seemed to be able to get threw customs. But i don't think that they should have a proublem.

As with all prescribed medications, it needs to be in its original container with label. I would carry and extra perscription with just in case that one got lost or broken on your trip. Have a great trip! :)

As far as I know as long as the epi-pen is in it's container and the container has a pharmacy label with the patients name on it, it should be allowed. I have had to travel with medical for my daughter ( more then the normal 3 oz. normally allowed ) and they have never given me a problem. Your best bet is to make sure once in the security line that you notify them that you have it.

Each airline has to follow government rules but they can also set their own on top of that. Your best bet is to call the airline directly and check their web site.

hi i believe it was pass thru i recently traveled and i had a prescriptive med and my mom had a perscriptive injectable med ,humeria, and they looked at it and passed it thru. as lokng as the original label is on it and the med is clearly visable it should be fine....i also traveled with my 3 yr old who was the only one allowed to take on her water bottle...... they are srtict but not so strict............... have a safe trip to Disney

I would check with your airline just to be sure, but my mom who is a diabetic carries a letter of medical necessity from her doctor and she is able to bring insulin syringes in a carry-on. Enjoy your trip!

Just FYI - regulations are updated regularly... so what you find out today may not be the case two months from now... you may want to wait until closer to the time and ask the airlines again at that time... to be sure your information is current.
