Embarassing Trying to Conceive Question

I'm trying to get pregnant with our third child but have a tilted uterus, so it is difficult. Books say to lay still with your hips elevated for about 20 minutes. Does this apply to the different positions suggested for those whose uterus is tilted? I hate asking this question but I really don't know the answer.

What can I do next?

Hi Kim` I had the same problem with the tilted uterus. We actually had to use pillows because of this. I put one to two under my bottom and just that alone tilted it in the right direction. Good Luck.

Hi K..
I too have a tilted uterus and it really wasn't a problem. Our problem was not getting the right timing. My doctor said the way to figure out when you are ovulating is to look at your cycle and count back 15 days from the first day of your period and then have sex at least every other day that week. My husband and I had been trying for about 8 months for number 2 when my doctor told us that and we got pregnant that same month. My first son took about a year and I fully believe it was the same problem of not getting the timing right. I had tried a basal thermometer and that didn't work at all because my temperature didn't change enough to be noticable. I had also read that if you counted 15 days from te beginning of your cycle and that didn't work either. With my first son we had actually decided we weren't going to get pregnant and planned a big vacation for the fall and the next month I was pregnant (because we had taken the pressure off of ourselves) The hardest part for me was to relax and let nature take it's course and once I did I got pregnant. We also used the pillows afterwards and I think that helped too, but my ob/gyne said ten minutes was plenty. Good luck and I bet number three will be along any day. Hope this helps even if it's just the encouragement.

K., It worked for me. I was about to give up and my husband was going to get "snipped". We tried 1 last time to conceive.I had my hips flat against the wall and legs straight up. I was like this for 50 minutes. My husband laughed and said I should get down after 20. Well, it worked!!!!
Good Luck!!

I wasnt taking any chances that it was just one thing. If you havent been to the DR already, have a physical/blood tests. See if everything else is ok. In my case it was my thyroid not my tiled uterus that was the issue. I also did the legs up thing. And I found a web site that had REALY cheep ovulation & pregnancy tests. www.early-pregnancy-tests.com.

Hi K., I have a tilted uterus and havent had any problems conceiving. Dont try too hard, you'll stress yourself out. I never did anything different. When my husband "finished" he didnt jump up. We stayed together for a while. It will happen. Good luck,
K.

I have read conflicting reports about this so I am unsure. I know that many couples have had success with accupuncture. You may want to explore it as a possibility.

I also have a tilted uterus and i have 2 kids 5 and 15 months and there was a miscarriage in the middle so there was no trouble getting pregnant.my last child took the longest 7 or 8 months did all the tests and positions the pillows the feet in the air we did it all finally we gave up trying and just had fun and that is my suggestion don't put so much stress on yourself trying just have fun like its supposed to be. i was pregnant a month and a half later.

I also have a tilted uterus but it's given us no problems for conceiving. It took a the longest with my daughter - about 6 months. I got pregnant the first month with my son (when my daughter was just 9 months old and still nursing). I am 8 weeks pregnant again and it happened within a month again. At some point through trying with my daughter, I read about elevating you hips and would put my bum up on a pillow for a while after sex. I did that with the second 2 and had immediate success. I just folded a bed pillow to elevate my hips as high as i could comfortably and rested.

No question is dumb or embarrassing! Especially here.

I must add though, there's got to be a better way than making yourself look like a Butterball turkey all tied up for Thanksgiving Day meal. Ask your doctor for some advice.
