Eczema Treatment

Has anyone found anything that works well for eczema? My daughter has battled it and now I've discovered some patches of it on my little 4 month old's legs. My daughter's pediatrician prescribed acid mantle cream for her. It's ok as long as we are very faithful about putting in on her.

I'd be curious to see what has worked for other moms. Thanks so much for your help! :)

There is a something I found recently called Triple Cream. It is from the makers of Triple Paste daiper rash cream and it seems to work pretty well. I found it at Target.

H.-- You probably got this already. I did not read all the responses but... I have eczema and two of my kids do too. I put them on soy and it is gone!!!!! When they have too much ice cream or any mlk product they break out.. Good Luck M.

My son is 10 and has excema since about 2. The best way to help them is to keep them lubed up. We use Cetaphil lotion which is good. We have also used Aquaphor and Eucerin. The key is consitency. Which is sometimes hard.

I'm a little backwards from most of the world. I wanted to figure out what was causing my son's eczema. I started cutting things out of his routine. No fragrance in laundry soap. Less baths (b/c he is SO dry he's not a stinky kid. lots of hand washing) with very little if any soap. Cooler water, hot water irritates the skin. Cotton clothing because most fabrics were irritating. Lastly, we realized he's VERY sensitive to dairy products. I can tell when he's been having snitches of cheese or dairy. He flares up again. He drinks soy milk which has just as much calcium as whole cow's milk. NO cheese, yes for soy yogurt, limited, if any dairy. He is doing great! He is never sick. I don't put topical ointment on but maybe 1-2 times per month. I don't want to "cover up" the problem, I want to prevent it. Do lots of research and start cutting things out, and you'll be amazed! Lots of water so the skin can heal itself and keep out irritants.

My DD has eczema, it gets bad in the winter, her skin feels like sandpaper. I don't have an Rx but I use Eucerin morning and night and Lubriderm (or the store brand =to it) 3 times a day. She loves the Eucerin. On the patches you can put a little cortizon cream on it 2 times a day (baby is a little young you might want to see if it is ok with the doc first)

It sounds bad but by DD only gets a bath 1 time a week with soap, and maybe 2 baths a week with just water.

Do not use anything scented. Dove works best. Don't use the baby lotion, it has alcohol in it...it will make the skin worse.

Make sure the kids are getting enough fluids, and crank up a humidifier in your house.

Good luck.

I work with a company called Melaleuca. We have amazing products. A lot of people & kids use the lotion that we have called Renew for eczema. All with terrific results. Actually a close personal friend of mine waited to start shopping with Melaleuca, she finally did when her little boy had eczema. She was a skeptic but is so appreciative now. If you would like information about these products to help all aspects of your life, email me at ____@____.com. I would love to hear from you.

Aquaphor. And I just saw that Aquaphor has a baby body and hair shampoo that I am going to try instead of Aveeno.

I use a body dew on my two little boys and it works WONDERS. I have found that it is the only thing that works for us.

Hope this helps!!!

My son had it on his legs starting around 4 months as well, we found out at 9 months that he is allergic to dogs and the dog at daycare was causing the eczema. Once we got him some Allegra it went away. Before that we would have to put those big band aids on his legs after the lotions and medicines so he wouldn't scratch. That worked really well too.

I've tried LOTS of lotions and my favorite is Vanicream. I have to go the pharnacy to find it and you may have to special order it. It works really well. I like Melagel for flair-ups and itching, if you can find someone who sells Melaluca. Benadryl cream also helps with the itching. Good luck!
