I am in need of a new vacuum. I'm looking at the Dyson. But I'm not sure which one we should get...... Any feedback on them? We are looking at either the Animal Upright OR Ball styles. OR the Mulit Floor Upright or Ball styles. HELP!

Thanks!

I got a Dyson Animal Upright a little over a year ago. I love the suction and that it has a filter so it doesn't kick up dust while vacuuming. But after less than a year it makes a screaming sound while vacuuming my low pile area rug in the kitchen which is very irritating and it has become hard to click the dust container back into place after emptying. I put up with these problems because I paid so much for the Dyson but next time I buy a vacuum I'll go with something else. *Peace* :)

I have the yellow one.

I went to the store one day to buy a Dyson because I had heard rave reviews. Upon arrival at the Dyson isle I saw that there were a few choices so I called my hubby to help me decide which one would be best. He had the kids with him and I was shopping alone. I called him when apparently he was driving and he had left his blue tooth at home....grrrrrrr!

OUr conversation went like this.

Me: I am looking at the Dysons and they are all pricey, which one do you think I should I get?

Husband: Hmmm...how about you go with the...wait..dangit...a cop is pulling me over..I gotta go.

Soooo, there I was left to choose knowing that it probably meant he was getting a ticket. Sooo then I went with the cheaper model. I believe it was 299 buckaroos.

Now whenever I vacuum I think back to how that ticket decided our Dyson purchase. And my hubby learned his lesson to never talk on phone without blue tooth.

I think you will be happy with any Dyson. They SUCK!! (really ,really good)

Hello,
Not trying to be a brat but just wanted to throw my two cents. Ever consider another vacuum? I bought a Hoover tempo about 6 months ago and LOVE IT! Only $68 at most stores got rated BETTER than any Dyson in consumer reports. Actually Dyson didn't not perform very well in consumer reports. My sister in law loves her Dyson but for that kind of money I guess you will make yourself love it. I wanted to have a 'vacuum off' with her because I totally think I would win but we just never have. LOL. It doesn't have any bells and whistle, it does have the hose and attachments. But excellent suction. I do have a yellow lab that sheds alot and still very happy! I had a bagless before this and I love having a bag over the bagless any day. I am sure Dyson is a great vacuum but I could never spend that kind of money. So you could save some moey and maybe buy something else you have wanted? Good Luck with whatever you decide!

I have the ball - it is awesome! I have the smallest one - I live in a small space. You look at the carpet and think...that could maybe use a vaccuum and then the dirt holder is FULL in half a room - it's amazing. My mom has the animal one she has 3 cats and has had amazing success with that. So, if you have animals...

We have an upright, no ball, no animal. Granted ours is probably 5+ years old... anyway, when we researched it, we found you paid a lot more for the animal feature but it had so-so reviews. That said, our plain old Dyson still does a fantastic job and was a great purchase!

I just recently purchased a new vacuum - A Shark Navigator Liftaway and I am in love! I was so sold on getting a Dyson too but after doing some research I decided to go with the shark and I couldn't be more happy! It is light-weight and seems to have all the same features a Dyson claims to have. Plus the bonus is costs considerably less! I purchased it at Bed, Bath and Beyond and I had a 20% off coupon so I saved close to $40 on it so in total it was around $145. I purchased the coupon off of Ebay for .99 cents. By far one of my best purchases EVER!

When I was buying O....The Animal was an upright.
Truthfully I bought the Drive b/c it was a little cheaper at the time. It's great (I've never used the car attachment) and we have a huge furry dog.
If I had to replace it tomorrow, I would probably get The Ball...it wasn't out yet when I bought mine. I think any model will be fine. They are all basically the same (the uprights anyway).

When I researched this, the Animal and the Ball are basically the same. The Animal has an additional attachment and an extra filter. Apparently, the suction is the same though. I have the multi floor, but my great room is not carpeted, so I knew it would be used. For my purposes, the multifloor works great. It does not turn as tightly as the Ball...it's not quite as maneuverable for me, but I am ok with that. I have tried vacuuming my concrete floors before and the vacuums usually just blow the dust and dirt everywhere. This one does not. I can go straight from vacuuming the carpeted rooms to the hard floors in my living room and the tiled bathrooms. For me, it makes clean up easier. If I had more carpeting, I would have gotten the Ball version.

We have the larger Dyson Ball but not the animal and love it. The animal model comes with a better hand held attachment, so depending on your needs it may be worth the extra money (stairs, furniture, etc). We just recently splurged and got the cordless stick Dyson for the daily dog hair rolling across our hardwood floors, it is great also.
