Have any of you seen the Dove Real Beauty Sketches?

I think it was so beautiful to watch. Shows that we see ourselves in such a harsh light, but others see what is really there.

I will post a link in the SWH

I loved this. And I wish there was more to it. I would love to see an entire documentary on this topic! Women are SO down on themselves. And the media only makes it worse! I also enjoyed the slideshow of Photoshop fails.

I wish they'd advertise women as they REALLY look. Every mark is a battle scar and deserves positive recognition. Let's see those stretch marks, Beyonce', Heidi Klum, and Julia Roberts! We know you've got 'em!

ETA: I was just thinking about something...

I used to be a professional cake decorator before I enlisted into the military. I've made hundreds of cakes for folks, and I've never had a complaint. But I can't think of one cake I made where I did not see a mistake or flaw that I was worried about.

Those flaws always stuck out to me, like someone had pointed a spotlight on them.

I think we, as women, do the same thing to ourselves. We see a glaring, spotlighted flaw in ourselves and think that everyone else will notice it like we do.

But they don't.

They see the WHOLE person when they see us. They might see that flaw too...but to them, it's not spotlighted or highlighted. It's a part of the whole person.

We really must learn to see our whole selves.

We are so often our worst critics. I know I often am, and DH will say, "I wish you could see yourself the way I see you." And, you know, I wish I could, too. I don't think I'm hideous, but I see my flaws more than he does.

I just watched this...wow!

I immediately thought of how *I* would describe myself...and honestly, it would come out looking like a caricature I am sure!

Hoping that if someone else described me, it would be more realistic (and flattering!)

I'm with christy. I'd love to have seen more.

I saw this first thing this morning, via someone from FB. It made me cry (not boo hoo cry, but teared up). Then I looked at the photoshop fails and laughed. Then I went to Walgreens and bought a box of tampons AND a pregnancy test because I'm not normally all emotional and stuff. :) Gotta be one or the other, right?
But yes, I really am happy I saw that today, and have thought about it off and on throughout the day.
