Does Anyone Have Trochleitis And/or Migraines?
Does anyone suffer from Trochleitis and/or migraines? If so, do you have any words of wisdom or medical advise? I would love to hear it. I have been on every medication available (prophylactic and abortive), tried alternative medicine, tested for food allergies, and my hormones are normal. My most recent MRI showed that things were "normal", although I have white specs throughout the brain. I was told by 3 neurologists that these were typical scar type spots for someone who has a migraine every day. I exercise and watch my diet. I had my first migraine at 18 and I am now 41. I have a headache almost every day it ranges from cluster-type to migraine, but it is never just a minor headache. I have all the typical migraine symptoms in addition to sinus issues as well. Any advise or support groups would be greatly appreciated.

Go to a great chiropractor and I would love to recommend a practice to you. Hamilton Family Chiropractic Center - Dr. Michael Brass and his wife Dr. Colleen Conger. 281 East Hamilton Ave. #4 in Campbell. - ###-###-####.
They have had great success with folks with migraines.
Tell them that B. recommended them. I use to work for them and still see them for regular adjustmants.
They are the best.
Good Luck -

J.,
I have suffered with Migraines for a long time but since I have had my dd (who just turned 3!!) I have had maybe 3. I would love to tell you she was the difference, but i truly feel it was the renewed daily use of my mouth guard. I don't grind my teeth, but at night I clench my jaw so tightly that it fractures my teeth! When I have forgotten to wear my nightguard for a few nights in a row, that is when i get a whopper of a headache and if I don't catch it with migrine or 600-800mg of Ibuprophen it will become a migraine. Has your dentist checked you for TMJ or looked to see if you are grinding/clenching your teeth? If you cannot determine that yours are food related, it could be that you are stressed (w 3 little ones who wouldn't be at times) and holding the tension in your jaws. If you can try an over the counter mouth guard it may help. Also, 20 minutes of meditation can truly do wonders.
As a massage therapist, I'm sure you have received your fair share of treatments. But have you ever tried water massage or jahara? The Betty Wright Swim Center which is now part of Abilities United in Palo Alto has a warm water therapy pool and offers Watsu in addition to a number of other modalities and programs. If you can grab an hour or so during the day, it could help you to relax a bit. To me, it is 30-60 minutes of bliss.
Good luck. Sending you relaxing, healing energy.

Hi J.,
Have you tried acupuncture? I know a couple of good ones in the mt. view area. Let me know if you want their names and numbers.
Also, you may want to give the super fruits a try. Have you heard of the acai berry or the mangosteen? We love Monavie and Xango. I have heard people say that their migraines go away with both juices. Let me know if i can help you get some to try!
Good luck,
G. RN

VERY similar story to yours. My migraines were not even ever diagnosed until I switched primary doctors and she put me on high blood pressure medication, which I was ALSO never diagnosed with before! Migraines are far and few between now :) Good luck.

I suffered with migraines for more years than I can remember before even being diagnosed. After changing doctors many years ago, my then "new" doctor ran tests and diagnosed clinical, or true, migraines. I took mitrin for several years (on a daily basis), followed by Imitrex for a couple of years (also for daily migraines). Stress and certain chemicals (aspartame, ie: Equal)set them off. My last migraine was over a year ago and it was the first in two years. See a chiropractor! It took about 6 months of consistent chirpractic care to rid me of regular daily migraines, but over the course of treatment the frequency diminished significantly, to the extent that I get one once every couple of years. My Dr. prescribes Imitrex for the rare incident. Chiropractic has changed my life. I lost years to migraines, unable to even get out of bed. If you use Equal or ingest foods with aspartame...STOP. My last migraine was due to the stuff in a cream pie made with sugar free pudding. The hostess at a dinner I attended failed to mention it until I had taken several bites. The headache came on in minutes and lasted 24 hours. Migraine is an allergic reaction to aspartame..and they're nasty migraines because nothing works on them.
Good Luck, L.

I was getting daily headaches after my 3 year old was born and I got fed up going to traditional doctors and having them tell me 'you're just tired' and 'everyone gets headaches'. A friend recommended me to Cypress Natural Medicine in Palo Alto. I first started seeing Dr. Destia there who does Cranial Sacrial (sp?) for sinuses and headaches. After several months of going there on blind faith my headaches went away. I now consider them my doctors more than my traditional doctors office! I have seen the acupuncturist there for allergies (my own and my children's), back pain and my kids asthma. I've seen the homeopathic doctor there for my kids as well. Try it, you'll feel better!

Migraines stop life in its tracks. I don't recall when mine started, but before I could articulate what I was feeling.
My ob, general, and gastro drs. put it together for me. It truly was hormonally driven, even though mine were with in limits. I was put on a BC to help with hormones and had worse headaches. Switched to another and they stopped just as fast as they started. After a year and a half of this, I had a hysterectomy via spinal, which followed with the WORST headache of my life for two weeks. Then they were gone. I've had minor headaches, but nothing that has taken me down for the count.
I say switch drs., get a team working together to figure this out.
