Do You Reference Mamapedia in Conversations?

I rarely lie but I have to admit when I am talking about a story someone told on here and want to use it for reference to proove my point or J. in conversation, I generally say "someone at work" because it my mind it loses credibility if it's someone from the internet. Also when I reference news I've heard on Howard Stern I say "Oh, I watched on 20/20" because apparently in my head that seems more credible than stern=)

I refer to it as "this mom site I am on..". And then give info, or ask their opinions.... I do share some of the opinions on here to get their perectives also.

Yes. Yes I do.

I didn't used to, but it became too cumbersome.

Now my friends are very familiar with M. starting a conversation with,
"WELL, my mamapedia friend..."

"Sooooo, I may or may not be part of this online mothers forum. Like, excessively so..."

"I J. heard about this...thing...on...
Okay, I read about this on mamapedia."

I'll reference it to my husband sometimes. I'm pretty sure he thinks we are all completely insane.

Well, I don't drop the name b/c I don't want my friends to find M., lol!

I usually say my "online mom's group". I was once asked where I go online for the group and I think I said cafemom or babycenter or something. The fact that people can find us by our email address gets M. all nervous.

I never say mamapedia because I don't want my friends to see M.! I say it to my husband all the time. I usually say, "my mama group online"...and I talk about it way too much.

Like Laurie A, I call it "this mom board I look at sometimes ...". No need for anyone to know how often sometimes is ... DH thinks he knows how often, but he's likely NOT.EVEN.CLOSE.

I refer to topics from this site daily in my house - or at least it seems so. I usually J. say "Moms' chat group" and my DH and DD know what I'm talking about. Great conversation starters for us and I really learn so much on here about human nature.

Yes quite frequently I reference this site, but I try hard to never lie, however I do not ever reference the site by name, I say a parenting site or parenting forum. I tend to be very conscious of lying and despise it, however that being said I have no problem being vague or omitting information. I also have no problem allowing someone to believe something totally different than the truth due to my omissions. So technically that could be viewed by some as still lying, or at the very least not being totally honest. And I really believe in the truth, but I am human too and we all fail at something every day. If the lies bother you say something else that makes it more vague, without saying something untrue. Otherwise J. realize we all do it at some time. You have a good handle on why you say these lies which is why most of say lies or omit things which is our own perceptions of how others will perceive us or what we say(often a sense of protecting self or others). A lot of other people probably don't have the same credibility issues that you do with the sources you mentioned. However in your head it seems better, which is fine, that is you. I have lied in my life at times I felt I was protecting myself or someone else. We are human and yes I went off on a tangent here, so basically the answers were yes I reference this site all the time and yes I lie, or omit info like the name of the site.
