Hi ladies! Looking for a restaurant that will take reservations for a big group on a Fri or Sat night. I've been calling around and they're all saying that they don't take reservations for big parties on Fri or Sat because those nights are their busy nights. Anyone know of a restaurant that would be willing to accomodate us? Looking for Nov 2nd or 3rd and looking for somewhere in Plano, Frisco, Allen or North Dallas.

What can I do next?

Have you tried Olive Garden or Chili's? I know I have seen large parties at Oliver Garden on weekends. And I know I have been to some at chili's at least in my area. If nothing else you might have someone go early and get the table before hand.

I'd say to try Maggiano's. Olive Garden (particularly the one in Addison) might be able to do it, too. You may also try Maximo's Margarita Lounge (Alpha near the Galleria).

I don't have a restaurant recommendation, but another suggestion. We had a group of 12 in a tourist destination (we were local) and knew they didn't take reservations. I called about an hour ahead of time (might want to call when they open) and asked for the manager. I politely explained that while I knew they didn't take reservations, we were a large party of 12 coming in at 7pm. He said they could probably get me in within an hour, no problem. We were seated within 50 mins and had a grand time in the bar beforehand. So, a little heads-up can help them tremendously. Good luck!

What is your price point?

I'd try Maggiano's/Plano, Carrabba's/Plano, Patrizio/Allen.... all have some sort of separate dining area.

Higher end... Del Frisco's/Dallas, III Forks/Dallas, Ruth Chris/Dallas

I know these places make reservations for large parties, especially Maggianos because I reserved an area for the homecoming group last year and there were around 20 in that group.

I just checked your dates and there is no Sr High school homecoming that weekend in Plano, FYI. If there had been it would be tougher to get in.

Good luck and Enjoy!

tell them you'll do a price fix menu-that includes choice of one appetizer- out of three, choice of one entree-out of three-and choice of one dessert-out of three-or tell them, you'll bring a cake-they'll love it. It should be the same price per person-and it will take time-so tell them, in addition-you would be willing to order trays of assorted appetizers to begin with-for the whole table. They're being ridiculous-this is a great opportunity for a restaurant-glad everyone down your way is rolling in the pony dough and they can turn away business!

I'm not familiar with your area, but I think you need to find a place that has a separate room for your party. In our area, there are restaurants where regular seating can be done, or a private party can be accomodated. Approach it more from a private party and see who can accomodate you. You may have to pay a fee to reserve the space though, but divided 20 ways it should be no big deal.

My husband works at a restaurant in Frisco called TruFire. It's REALLY good food! Located off of Lebanon & the Tollway. They are reasonably priced & have a great wine selection. As well as handmade cocktails.

They do take reservations on Friday and Saturday evenings. They even have a semi-private room called the Pillow Room you can request. Check them out! www.trufire.us. If you go, ask for Stephen H. for your server. He is one of their best servers!

We went to Mattitos in Frisco on a Friday for my birthday last year with 25 people. We made reservations, it took them about 15 mintes to seat us but we had our own room. It was really nice..

We had my daughter's graduation dinner in May at Texas Land and Cattle near Stonebriar. They have a small private room that accomodates up to 20. There's no charge for the room. They may want you to order from the banquet menu, which is a little pricier, but with our group of 15, they allowed us to order from the menu when I requested it. It's a little rustic, but still has atmosphere with a stone fireplace, and it has a door that closes to help shut out the restaurant noise. The service was very good.

It sounds like you may need a small banquet room with a caterer. That is a pretty good size. Have you tried to make the reservation earlier on Friday or Saturday? Perhaps they will take you at 3:30 and then you can go out after that and have the evening free.

I would think Chinese and Italian restaurants are pretty open to it. It's true here in California, just call the place you would like to go to and see if they have a banquet room, you'd be surprised.

Spaghetti Warehouse can probably do it. We have our lunch meetings there every first Wednesday and they're always very accomodating. They have a party room, too. They're at 15th/75 in Plano. Lorenzo is the manager.

Its not in the cities you listed but for a graduation dinner we went to Los lupes in Addison. They made a reservation for 23, no charge. When we arrived seated us when only 12 people had arrived. We had a private room and since it was a Dutch event everyone paid their own bill so they chose .what they could afford and liked to eat. It was much easier than I thought or learned when I began the search for a.place for dinner
