Has anyone heard of Digital Scrapbooking? What is it? Any recommended websites? I currently scrapbook and would love to get started on the internet where I can show my family living far away.

What can I do next?

Hi R.. I love to scrapbook and have always been a huge fan of Creative Memories. If you go to their website creativememories.com you can download the Storybook "software" for free. Just play with it and see what you think. The only time you pay for anything is if you actually order it. They have all kinds of different themes. Also, I know a great consultant if you want to do it and give her the credit when you place your order. Any time you want to talk about scrapbooking just let me know. It's a passion for me and I do it all the time.
Take care!
(and have fun with it)

I found this info fo you:

Most tutorials follow Photoshop Elements, as Photoshop Elements is what most people use to do digital scrapbooking. So it is important to get familiar with that program or a similar one.

It is suggested you pick up this new book/magazine called "Computer Tips for Scrapbookers" by Creating Keepsakes to get started. Look for it at a local scrapbook store, and you might be able to get it at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, or Joann's Fabrics. If not, check out creatingkeepsakes.com. This is a beginners book for digital scrapbooking but not a beginner's book for scrapbooking. It's helpful for paper scrappers to transition to digital.

Once you are familiar with Photoshop Elements or something similar, you can download lots of free kits out there to get you started.

I use www.dropshots.com to share pictures with family far away. It is not in the scrapbook format, it is more like adding pictures to an album and being able to comment on each, and recieve comments from family members. It is free, and if you would like a password you pay a small fee per year.

Creative Memories offers this service. You need to be invited by the Creative Memories hostess. My friend is a consultant, and I am sure would be happy to give you the information if you would like it. She is very non-pushy and super nice.

My favorite digital scrapbook site is www.cottagearts.net. They have beautiful templates, digital paper and embellishments - just like you were creating a physical page. They also have a great gallery to get new ideas on arrangements. I'm a web designer, and I love to use their graphics when I create family webpages.

I recently became a consultant with Heritage Makers - my website is www.MyPhotobookStory.com. The great thing is that the application is all online - you don't download anything to your computer. This solves the problem of your computer crashing or you upgrade your computer and lose everything. The Studio tool uses the drag and drop technology. Plus there are webinars and youtube videos to help get you started. When you have completed projects, you can send links to your family to view your albums/projects. If you would like more information, please contact me at ____@____.com.
