I am into weight watchers. I lost 45 pounds after my last daughter was born and have every intention of doing it again in a few weeks when my son is born! Kristi is right thought, weight watchers is ment to be a life change not a diet! But honestly I felt soooo good when I did it! I was healthy and had energy and it was awesome since I had a 2yr old and a newborn! Good luck!

I've been researching this, and I'm going to be starting The Fat Flush Plan next week. It's a two-week cleansing period and then it's basically eating sensibly. It was recommended by my doctor and my friend has lost 70 pounds in the last year on it. (She was as addicted to junk food as I am, and she's quite happy with her eating and her health. That gives me some hope!) Just an option: www.annlouise.com. Good luck!

Weight Watchers. But it only works if you work it. I lost 65 lbs. while I was on it, but you have to continue eating healthily, and stay within your points, or you will gain weight. Some people think that you can "diet" until you have lost the weight, then resume their old eating/lifestyle patterns. This is not true. You have to keep it up to keep it off. It really works though, and the weekly meetings are awesome, because they make a big deal out of small victories, and it's nice to be supported by people in the same situation.

Weight Watchers is the only diet that is scientifically proven. If you can stick to it, it is a good program. My husband and I learned a lot from it.
Dr. Mirkin's Diet is also a very effective tool if used right. It is very close the the meditarranean diet and the info is free online. The key to this diet is knowing what whole grains are. Whole grains are literally the whole grain, like brown rice, barley, quinoa, wild rice, millet, etc and not anything processed into flour and made into noodles, bread, etc. Eating whole grain bread and saying it is whole grain is like eating banana bread and saying you ate bananas. The advertisers are fooling us into eating all these cereals, crackers, bread, noodles, etc and saying that we are getting whole grains from them. And when we eat them, we get hungry because our body basically processes it like sugar and turns it into fat. True whole grains have fiber and good carbs to keep us full. That's a key factor to a good successful diet. Nobody likes feeling hungry.
I would start by eating steel cut oatmeal for breakfast. Trader Joe's sells them pre-made but I usually cook a week's worth in a slow cooker and put them in individual containers. I have all sorts of dried fruit, fresh fruit, nuts and seeds ready for toppings. That really fills us up for the morning and you have half a day where you're eating well already and not having to snack to get energy. Instant or even rolled oats don't work as well. I have experienced it personally. Sometimes, I throw in kasha, barley, or other whole grain and healthy things like flax seeds and sesame seeds for variety and extra nutrition.
I don't want to preach so I've enclosed the link below. My husband lost 30 pounds and I only needed to lose that stinking stubborn last 5 pounds after my pregnancy and this helped me do that. Dr. Mirkin has tons of recipes on his websites and a lot of them are delicious! Even my 3 yr old eats them, not because she needs to be on a diet but because it is basically healthy food that our body needs!

Hi Nonya,
My husband and I have been using fooddiary.com to track what we eat and how many calories we have left in a day. He has lost 22 pounds since March. I lost about 30 pounds a few years ago & kept it off.
It's not a system with point counting, just understanding what you're doing.
Good luck.

write down EVERYTHING you put in your mouth. that is the first thing any celeberity has to do with their fancy famous trainers/dietician. They say that the ONLY way to really change eating habits. It is also one of the hardest things to do EVERYTIME.
It will show you a pattern of your habits. It also jump start the brain into skipping the extra 5 m & Ms because you didn't want to write it down. after a while you can see what (quanties & when and even what you were doing at the time.) you are putting in your body and what you are not. you can then naturally change your intake to be more balanced, and speading out the calories thoughout the day.
Personally, i can't do it. i eat like a camel and can't help myself. the only reason i'm not the size of a house is that i gave up many foods (no bread, pasta, sugar..) but it is not really a healthy way to do it. If you need to drop a couple of dress sizes in a couple of weeks, yes, i'd say go for it (eat only protiens and low carbrohydrate vegetables for about a week or so and wear ankle weights in the day to tone the legs.) But a real change of eating habit to a healthy lifestyle comes from recording everything you eat.

Nonya, I am not certain what point you are at, but it just takes personal strength. This is a personal friend of mine. It can be done, it just takes a lot of work.
