Did You Know About the Chemicals in Baby Products?

Hello M., Are you involved with Melaleuca? There are other mom's on here that have used similar questions to boost their business.

I was a Melaleuca customer for 5 years and found out the hard way that they are not as safe and natural as they claim. Now I use products like Earth Mama, Angel Baby and California Baby. I also use Dr. Bronner's Castile soap and make many of my own cleaners using lemon juice, vinegar, baking soda, borax, and essential oils. My family is so much healtheir for it and I don't have to spend a fortune on harmful cleaning products anymore.

One thing that is very disturbing to me is how the Johnson and Johnson comercials imply that they are commited to safe products and earth friendly practices. If you go to www.cosmeticsdatabase.com you can see that these popular baby products are TOXIC. Melaleuca's Koala Pals has a "safe" rating with a high margin of error. That's because Melaleuca refuses to divulge it's ingredients to anyone, even for a medical reason, expecting people to trust them implicitly. Natural is a broad claim and I just don't buy it anymore.

Yes - the www.cosmeticdatabase.com site is a great way to research for yourself. Once I heard about the hazards in the every-day products we use, I could no longer use them. Did you know that Jackie Kennedy's brain tumor was full of chemicals in her hair dye? That did it for me! I got on the website and searched for hair color. It rates them, starting with the lowest hazards. I found one that is totally natural and rates a zero.

I was aware of this, but seeing the test report is again pretty rough.
I don't think that it is reasonable to assume that you can totally eliminate exposure of your kids to harmful chemicals, BUT you can be an advocate is with your wallet!
I don't by ANY of the products that tested positive on that list! I am willing to spend a little more on brands that are more conscious of these concerns, such as Burt's Bees or California Baby.
When my daughter was really little, I did not use any cosmetics on her, not even shampoo or soap. Simple water is doing a fine job in keeping babies clean and if you really need a little extra help, a bit of vegetable oil gets off sticky diaper messes. I didn't even use baby wipes, just damp paper towels worked just fine.
Now that she is over two, we do use shampoo to keep her long hair clean and occasionally a cream if she has an eczema outbreak (eczema runs in my family, so I was very careful from the very beginning).
If you forgo the beauty products your baby won't smell like J&J (aka perfume) but she will get just as clean.

Yes, I know about them and tell everyone I come in contact with about them.It is very scary to think about all the things we use and that we don't actually know what is in them. My family and I only use ARBONNE products for our babies and for ourselves. I refuse to purchase anything over the counter since I discovered Arbonne products. Arbonne has a wonderful reputation and they WILL NOT compromise the standards that they have set. Did the article tell you that some products actually put an ingredient like novacaine in them if it says NO MORE TEARS they probably have it in there it numbs the eyes so they don't feel the sting but they will turn red and tear up. I have learned a lot about what I DON'T want to use on my skin and I know what I DO want in and on my body and that is Arbonne.
