Desperately Seeking a Supportive Plus-size Nursing Sports Bra!

I know there have to be some other plus-sized, active mommas out there, and I need your help! :)

I'm just about 5 months post-partum, and *surprise, surprise!!* the baby weight has not magically melted away, lol.... I do yoga regularly but I would desperately like to get back in the gym for some cardio in a step class (I used to live for these classes, but obv had to give them up when I became pregnant!) -- however, as a 46F nursing mommy, there's no way I can even think about jumping around without the girls safely in a sports bra! The tough part is that it has to be a nursing bra too because I'm exclusively breastfeeding my daughter and plan to breastfeed for at least a year, possibly more. Does anyone out there have experience with a store in the Sacramento area, or even an online merchant? I'd be really appreciative -- I don't want the fact that I don't have a nursing sports bra to be an excuse to sit on my butt!!

Thanks so much in advance :)

What can I do next?

Hi C.. I feel your pain. I am no longer nursing, but when I was nursing I was a 36F and it is so hard to fine supportive nursing bras alone, not to mention sports bras. I have found a wonderful sports bra for full figure sizes and I love it. Its not a nursing sports bra, but it does have velcro strap adjustments that seem like they would work for nursing. The bra is Moving Comfort's Fiona. I think it goes up to a DDD size. If that doesn't work, Enell makes a serious sports bra that goes beyond 50 DDD, but be prepared to spend some money on it. It has a front closure, so I'm thinking it would work well for nursing, too. Both of the bras that I have mentioned are bras for runners and they are high impact bras for zero bounce. I hope this helps.

Hey C.,
It's E. :)
As a well endowed breast feeding mom myself, I will tell you what worked for me! None of the bra's themselves worked very well, but DOUBLING them worked WONDERS! If I was really moving around I would put on 3! ( A regular bra and then a sports bra over it- It helps if the first one is just a bit smaller and tighter). It really helped them from giggling around . It also helped them from leaking, as they were compressed. I hope this helps. See you soon :p

I was the same size when I was still breast-feeding. I found the most comfortable solution was to wear a nursing bra tank top that I got from Target. It had a nursing bra, but then several layers on top so it felt very secure and the fact that it was a tank top made me feel somewhat "normal". I got the biggest size, I think a XXL, and it felt great. I went to the Target in Elk Grove on Bruceville and Laguna, but I'm sure others would have it as well. It's in the aisle with the sports bras.

You might want to try Maternal Expressions in Folsom. They are a little pricey but extremely helpful and they were the only place I could find that had my size.

Good Luck!

How long is this class? And are you really going to stop during it to nurse? I exclusively breastfeed, too (and this is my 2nd time around doing it), but I have never had nursing sports bra. I just nurse before the class, throw on a regular sports bra for the duration, then hurry home and strip it off to nurse again.

Its been a long time for me but I went to Arden Fair Mall and found 32F ... which I couldn't find at any department store ... I went to both Mimi Maternity and Motherhood Maternity. One had one in my size but could order and the other had a few in stock.

HI. My son is 6 months old and I am breastfeeding too. What I have found is that if I wear a REALLY supportive sports bra (or two at once)- I can work out. I use the Frog Bra from Title Nine (online company or in Oakland). It isn't a nursing bra, but I just change when I get home. Granted, I am a 34 but I am an E and I can even run with this Frog Bra on.
Hope this helps!
