Desperate for Alternative Migraine Headache Relief

Hi moms! I am seeking any alternative migraine headache relief. I have been suffering since I was a teenager and have been on more than 15 different medications, have seen too many doctors that just want to push the pills. I have 3 kids and teach, so I cannot have anything that will leave me incapacitated in bed or zombie-like. I recently went for a consultation with AZ Pain Centers but am a little unsure of the non-steroid shots they give. If anyone has used them or know of other treatments that actually work (since no "traditional" therapies seem to work), I would be ever grateful! Thank you and God bless!

It may sound a little too "easy" but I have had migraines and know others also that have suffered and found relief after doing a cleanse. May be worth a shot for you since you have tried so many other things. Good luck, those are the worst! Let me know if you want info on the cleanse we did.

I recently saw an ad for a dentist that said something about certain dental conditions that cause migranes and fixing those dental issues can help/stop the migranes. If I see it again, I'll let you know. Someone I work with also said he gets Botox in his forehead (at the Mayo Clinic, I think) that has relieved his migranes for up to a year at a time. He said it costs him about $1000 though. Let me know if you want to know more about, I'll ask him for more info. You could research each of these on the net and see what you come up with. Good luck.

I too have been suffering from migraines since I was a teenager. I finally found relief from a daily preventative, Topomax. It's expensive if you don't have insurance, it may not be affordable, but I'd look into it. I just found out it is expected to be available as a generic after the first of the year, yeah!! The only side effect I had from it was weight loss...who can complain about that. I've gone from what had escalated to daily headaches & migraines to having headaches maybe once a week and a migraine maybe once a month. I can live with that! I just have to check in with my neurologist every 6 months as long as I don't have any problems.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

I have suffered since I was 17 with migraines. I went through the prescriptions as well. I saw a neurologist and he recommended taking vitamin B-2 and 60 mg of COQ 10 every day. It helped me a lot. Good luck.

J.,

Migraines are actually commonly caused by allergies! Visit www.naet.com for a way to safely and naturally eliminate your allergies and not have to take any medication! It worked wonders for my whole family, and it sounds like you have a busy life that has no room for migraines!

Good luck!

Hi J.,

My friend had some good luck with an acupunturist. And my sister in law is seeing an acupuncturist, (for other issues) and SWEARS that he is really helping her. I know a lady who went to an acupunturist as part of her breast cancer treatment and recovery and it worked wonders for her. Just like any Dr. you will probably have to go to a few to find the right fit for you.
Also, Deepak Chopra has a new book out- though the name escapes me- but it is directed towards natural healing of various diagonoses, including Migraines. If you go to www.chopra.com you can probably find it in the "store". Amazon.com or even the local bookstore probably have it as well.
Another thing, that is very alternative, is to call Sherry Anshara in Scottsdale. She is a medical intuitive, and though she doesn't call herself a healer- she's AMAZING! She's not cheap, but probably with just a few sessions she could really help you. The idea behind Quantum Pathics is
that we are made up of energy, and everything we have experienced is kept in our cellular memory. So if you are experiencing chronic or acute pain, or stress- which can cause a variety of ailments, it can almost always be linked to something that happened sometime in our life and we havn't released it yet...because we don't know how, or can't put the dots together. My friends daughter is 16. She's been on different medications for migraines since she was 3 yrs old! When she was 3, her parents got divorced and her baby sister was born, plus 3 years old is a really fragile and challenging age emotionally. It could be coincidence. But I'm willing to bet that is she went to Sherry, her migraines would diminish greatly. Sherry helped me tremendously with issues I used to have. You can find her at www.quantumpathic.com. She's worth looking into as well as acupunture, and see what Chopra has to say. There are also alot of really great Naturopathic Dr's in the valley.
Much good energy to you. I know suffering from migraines is really painful and difficult. Whether you find an alternative solution or a traditional cure - YOU are really the one who is best able to heal yourself.

In light and peace,
A.

Hi J., my husband and I have recently come across a product that is based on eastern medicine that has helped both of us with a multitude of health issues. Because it helped us so much we are now representatives for the company and I could give you some samples to see if they help at all or atleast hook you up with some information. This non-traditional supplement is incredible and is the endorsed by Chopra himself who actually worked on this supplement to make sure that it is the BEST! He gains nothing monetarily from the product either. Please email me and I can get you some more information. ____@____.com

My brother had migraines all during elementary and junior high school. After trying different meds and getting lots of tests done, he started going to a chiropractor, and he's a LOT better. He might get one now and then, but when he feels it coming on he makes an appointment with the chiropractor and it goes away.

Hello J.!

I too have sufferred from migraines since I was in high school. (ugh!) Believe it or not, I have found something that works wonders for me, if I can do it at the first sign of my headache: I use essentials oils from a company called Young Living. The two specifically are Peppermint (a single oil) and Pan Away (a blend). I rub a drop of each on each temply and the base of my skull, then if possible, I go lay down for about 20-30 minutes (even if I can't, these work pretty well in keeping the migraine at bay).
I don't sell these...a friend of mine does. However, I have used them for the past 3 years, and while working on reducing my stress level (learning relaxation techniques and the power of thought to relieve pain), my migraines have gone down significantly!
I hope this helps! If you have further questions, feel free to email me: ____@____.com

I would try Miracle Balls. They are very useful in many ways. They are two small balls that you put underneath your body depending on where your problem area is (i.e. neck, back, hips etc) and use gravity, breathing and your own body weight to help open and relax your body. I suffer from mild headaches and laying on these has been helpful. They're not real expensive. I bought mine at CostCo but I know you can get them elsewhere like Amazon.com

Well, this may sound weird, but for what it's worth... My husband suffers/suffered from cyclical migraines - about once a month. He started trying a diet to lose weight, "Diet Evolution," and his headaches mysteriously disappeared. He's not doing the diet any longer, so I'm expecting them to reappear, but for the two months that he did it, they were gone. You can check into it by reading the book (by the same name), though I have no idea if it would work for everyone. One thing that I've learned in my research into health and nutrition is that almost every condition can be prevented or cured with diet, so it makes sense that dietary factors would be involved in migraines as well. Even if this wasn't it for you, investigating diet might be helpful. Blessings!

Yep, migraine meds are the pits...except I have found that FROVA, although it takes a little longer to kick does not leave me incapacitated.

So, PLEASE try EFT EFT EFT = that's short of Emotional Freedom Technique, which I think is a very odd name and they SHOULD rename it to accu-tapping. You can find free directions at YouTube. It is a simple method where one taps on their own meridian and accupuncture points, while making self affirming statements. Since I've started doing this my migraines have decreased from 2xmonth to about 2xyear. ADditionally I have lots of other aches and pains subside.

I've also tried accupuncture/auriculuar medicine. They work very, very well but are costly. You could try accupuncture for a month or 2 to kick start things and use EFT at home. I found the needles to be too painful for me and then I had an allergic reaction the the little herbal seeds that are placed on your ears.

Email me back if you can't find the EFT info ....I promise it will make a huge improvement.
And as always, get plenty of rest and sleep, hydrate well, let the little things go, remember you are a wonderful woman of valor and when you sense the onset of a migraine (i.e. sensitivity to light/sound, aura's, normal headache - TAKE something for it immediately. Don't wait and think this is the time I might not need it....that thinking backfires on me all the time).

Best of health!
J.

I get B12 and B complex shots once every two weeks or so... I'll usually go in when I feel one coming on and it takes care of it marvelously! Not to mention improving my energy and PMS. I think they are starting to occur less frequently too. I go to a place in Chandler, and it's just $12. Good luck!
