We started this daycare when my son was 18 months old. He is now 8 years old and only goes when he has days off at school and during some of the summer. My daughter is 5 and she has been going there regularly since she was 6 months old. With the exception of this summer when she attended a pre-k program. She went back to the daycare for a couple of weeks this month before school stars as she is starting kindergarten this year. So now both kids will not go to this daycare unless they have a day off that we don't or for a little bit next summer. Should I get her some kind of gift? We absolutely love her and we're a little sad that we won't be needing her anymore. Ideas? Thanks!

Yes, give her a nice gift card to a nice restaurant . Include notes from you and the children.. she will love it.
I always appreciate a note or card that says how you feel about the care the kids received or how much you appreciate the work. In terms of gifts, I have gotten personal gifts like gift cards for pedicures, a really cool framed picture of our last name which was done with photographs of letters found in our city, gift cards to Ace Hardware when we were working on our yard...

A small gift card. And, even better, a very nice letter saying all the wonderful things that she did for your kids. Something written kind-of formally that she could give to prospective parents who want a reference letter.
When my daughter left her daycare provider (that we ADORED) to stay home with me, we gave her this poem, called A Mother's Thank You.
